I agree, Diamondgirl. I have no gripes about the presenters, they are who they are and are all different. You can't please everyone. But I have always felt it a bit silly when they gasp in amazement at a piece or when the price drops. I would be happy to be corrected, but surely they know what they are presenting and what price it will drop to. OK, there are a few exceptions when a falling auction goes wrong for them and they lose money. I remember in the old system the presenter once explained that the computer told them the start price, what it would drop to and what the cost price was so they should not drop it lower. Maybe it has changed now a person in the gallery is pushing the buttons, but I would still think that had most of that info on their bits of paper.
