Richard Jacksons Garden TSV 06/01/18

No time out for the little gnome, :mysmilie_10: he must have shares in qvc...

It won't be his birdseed, he said yesterday that hey didn't have any in stock!! Thank goodness I buy elsewhere......at this time of year the birds really need it.

i like Wilkos sunflower hearts superb quality for £2 a large bag.

I'll try that Boffy, thanks. I always buy no-mess seed in a 12kg. Bag from any garden centre, then add robin food, suet etc from Jolley's..and loose sunflower.
Jackie Kabler said her bird's will only eat Richard's seed! Well they won't at the moment!! Anyway, bird's will look for food..they don't starve waiting for QVC stock. The things they come out with!

I bet it will be advanced orders of “new generation” petunias, teeny-tiny pluglets to be sent out at the beginning of May with instructions to plant out after last frosts.

Once they’ve got the orders in, they will buy packets of seed and get planting.

I suspect the only things Richard Jackson is really interested in cultivating, is his ego and his bank balance.

I shall look forward to this TSV with gusto :mysmilie_59: Not buying any more plants from QVC though unless it is a good deal from De Jager. The winter pansies I bought (3 lots) are dead. Blah.

Boffy, I think you're right. I shall look up the numbers and complain. Some were called Halloween (black and orange) and I saw not one flower at Halloween or since. I know it's been freezing cold here but they are supposed to be winter hardy. Not.

The Jackie Kabler quote has me in stitches,, seriously they kinda quotes makes me cancel items from basket.

So it begins.

This means hour after hour, multiple TSV's and whole weekends full of utterly pointless, overpriced crap, most of which has only a very tenuous link to anything to do with actual gardening. Not to mention Richard "Stick it up your" Jacksie - I simply can't stand even the sight of the little pompous idiot. I know this applies to everything QVC sell but I don't understand why people are so taken in. The birdfood, for example, we all know you can get better product for half the price at any decent garden centre, but people wait on QVC to get it back in stock as though it's the only food in the world that birds will touch (at least according to Jackie!) There is a place for it, I know, but they just saturate air time with too much of the same thing.

I moaned about this on their Arsebook page a couple of days ago, but I noticed that my post was deleted. They probably invented a new house rule so they could take it down, as there was nothing offensive in it!

My feelings exactly. I just don't know how he gets away with it........ At least Dick Turpin had the good grace to wear a mask!

Developed by our resident gardening expert Richard Jackson, this New Formula Premium High Energy Bird Food is packed with fantastic ingredients, including sunflower hearts and oyster grit, plus the new and improved mix now contains 200% more suet pellets, a key high-energy ingredient much loved by birds throughout the year. Keep your feathered friends happily fed and thriving with this bird food from QVCs Richard Jackson.

Only the best for your birds - Richard Jackson has worked with leading bird food specialists to develop this premium feed, which will help to attract a wide range of birds to your garden all year round. The food contains extra-high levels of sunflower hearts (a rich source of oil and protein for all birds) as well as oyster grit which provides a natural source of calcium essential in the breeding season. Other ingredients include naked oats, red and white dari, kibbled peanuts, canary seed, hempseed, nyger seed and dried mealworms.

Extra goodness - this new and improved mix contains 200% more suet pellets. Many bird foods don’t contain them but it’s a hugely popular ingredient with birds because it’s an easy to eat, fast-acting energy source. Suet pellets are the equivalent of a natural Superfood and can help birds survive cold winters and when looking after their young during fledgling season in spring and summer.

Chosen with care - each ingredient has been specifically chosen to help attract a type of bird to your garden or outdoor space, along with nutritional benefits, taking into account oil, protein, vitamin and energy levels. Richard’s bird food is free from wheat flakes, a cheap filler used in many bird foods, which offers no nutritional benefit. Kibbled peanuts attract robins, blackbirds and blue tits, naked oats attract song thrushes, sunflower hearts attract many birds including green finches and woodpeckers, and nyger seed attracts goldfinches.

I’m listening to the launch show repeat and curious to hear that Alison Keenan had 6 robins on her bird table last week.

I’m truly surprised because I have never seen more than 2 robins together, so I got the impression that they are more “territorial” than the sparrows, thrushes etc that descend on my lawn in their dozens.

Perhaps I need to serve them RJ’s bird food to ensure I get a crowd of Robins !
