It not so much her being honest about the money but the inference that she is only doing it for the money. She consoles herself when she is spending her bank holidays at QVC by thinking of the money.

She will sit their on our tv screens declaring that jewellery is her passion and that she loves 'designing' and talking aout it, bringing it to her customers and that she can't believe how cheaply qvc can sell it that she can't be making anything out of it but that she does it for the love of it.

Now if we see her we will be thinking she hates flogging her jewellery on qvc she just does it for the money as the profits are huge so it must be overpriced tat.

Reminds me somewhat of a Mr Ratner in the 1980's.

She chose the wrong end of the market if she wanted to get rich like Joan. Joan (like B&W) specialised in gaudy cheap as chips manufacture in base metals and crystal to resell at high prices. LS's range is timid and in precious metals with proper (if small) stones. All a little Argosie, really. The mark-up can't be anywhere near as big and nor does it shout "exclusive!".

My belief is that like a lot of 'celebrity' designers, be it jewellery or fashion, she scribbles a 'design' on the back of an envelope and then its translated into something wearable by proper-gone to design college-designers, while she takes a percentage of the profit for attaching her name to a 'collection'. So all the gushing and gasping at price is just 'theatre' for the cameras. The bottom line is, Joan Rivers made her name as a comedienne and was around for decades before her foray into flogging jewellery; whereas most people would say Lisa who ?

In my humble opinion she is a nobody trying to be a has been like a few more that fill our screens and QVC

She's just one of us then, the 99.9% of the population who only do the jobs we do for the money. And she didn't say anything about hating it, just that she'd rather not be at work on a bank holiday - again like the 99.9% of us who like our bank holidays to ourselves.

Like anything you read/hear in the media, it may not be true, but didn't Joan Rivers describe her qvc jewellery as tat in an interview? And given she made her name from caustic often cruel observations, I find it odd that she's being put on a pedestal.

Ah, but she was in the entertainment industry in the States, and caustic or not, it gave her worldwide fame (observations I'm making, and certainly not putting her on a pedestal) - she could have gone on to sell rubber ducks and been successful, whereas Ms Snowdon is known for what ? dating George Clooney a hundred years ago, or a radio show (which one was that again?). J Rivers may not have had any input to her collection either, but she was promoted on QVC U.S and was a 'name' a reason she lasted so long. The UK 'celebrities' who have attempted jewellery collections on Q over the years have mainly sunk without trace - Anne Diamond, remember her ? Lulu didn't continue with hers either. Andrea McLean - how long before she's in Clearance too.

I don't understand at all the fury and scorn being expressed in this thread. If she did actually say what's being reported, Lisa Snowden's aspirations may not appeal to me, but if she wants to be rich, and is prepared to work for it, then good luck to her. I worked hard to achieve what I wanted in life and I don't begrudge her any wealth she may accumulate if that's what she wants, even though I doubt it will bring her happiness.

Well said, I agree.
