I missed the show but just wanted to ask, Did Shaun buy one of these masterpieces of horology for his mum?

If so, MM must be seething because, as we all know and try as he may, he can never manage to get his hands on any of these exquisite timepieces.

Last night Shaun presented nearly 4 hours in a row, have they currently got presenters of sick.

Only one I can think of is Sally Jacks, however she mentioned on her YouTube channel, she is back in 3 weeks

I'll sum up the 90 minutes show for you.

Introduction of Emma, who according to Shaun is a watch expert:ROFLMAO:, she herself says shes worked with Jewelry and watches for the best part of 15 years or so. For someone claiming to be a Watch Specialist at IW, with 15 years of experience, I have to say it really doesn't show, quite the opposite actually. ;)

Emma on a watch with a standard miyota movement with an accuracy of -20 to +40 a day, this is one sentence, but the rest of the show contained her repeating the same bullsh@t throughout. - The Team at Reign, work from design to finished piece, make sure they use the finest materials, the best technology, everything is utilised to the very best level, so you're getting something that will rival those Swiss timepieces with lots of zeros after the price point.

Shaun - oh my word, amazing, check RRP, doesn't it look amazing, Emma, the quality of, well, with everything of the the Reign timepiece it's outstanding, isn't it, oh remember check Reign web site for RRP.

repeat, repeat, repeat.

Whoa!!!! hold the phone:oops: That Emma watch seller has just claimed that a Reign watch is more accurate/reliable than a Rolex from a few years agoo_O Where is that bull sh@t detector?
RRP from £900, down to £199, yeah that'll be right:poop:
Whilst I'm on my high horse, last night had the Vostok Europe stuff, hand built and signed by the builder:unsure: the NH35A novements are bought in assembled, $14 each, put in a case, winder fitted, "hand built":ROFLMAO:

They love doing it don't they, dropping in the big names in an attempt to create association with the viewer between the product on screen and the big name they reference, in this case Rolex. It's like on TJC which I dip into now and again, they show you a product on a competitors website that's selling for £10,000. I'm not using that figure as a joke. They then set out to convince the viewer why the similar product TJC's selling is in many ways just as good ... even though it's going for £199.99. Aren't they SO generous giving the viewer such AMAZING bargains with each and every product.

As for the 'hand built' thing, I wonder if there's a standard in the industry for what constitutes a hand built piece? Taking extremes, one company literally buys in each separate component and they're assembled by a human not a robot. Another company simply buys in the case, strap and movement separately and they're also assembled by a human. Both have been 'hand built', no?

I thought i posted a link in my first reply but obviously must have missed that bit.

Here's a ranking site with more.

A quick look suggests one or two brands that IW sell are on there, however at 1 star 'entry level' luxury :) but good old trustworthy Peter tells us the brands they sell are up there with the best in the world?

Apologies if any IW ones are higher up and I missed them.

The same applies to crisps!

Most packets say "hand cooked" but we all know they are made in huge factories (watch "Inside the Factory" on TV yesterday inside the largest crisp factory in Europe).

The "hand cooked" must refer to the person pressing the button to start the fully automated process.

They love doing it don't they. They should think about the guff they spout. Peter with Kevin the other night 'A mean Kevin, this watch could EASILY be sellin' for 4 or 5 times as much and it would still be a bargain, am a right Kevin?' … 'Absolutely Peter.'

So, if true, WHY NOT SELL IT FOR TWICE AS MUCH, BUYER'S STILL GETTING A BARGAIN AND IW HAS MADE MORE PROFIT!!!'

Could it be you're telling porkies?!?

:)

I was watching TJC last night and they were selling watches, Gamages of London. Same patter as IW re the RRP and the chap from the company was there squirming at the prices. Free £70 pens and don't forget to insure it!! They sold about 150 a time.

Can't get away from them.......

Peter Sherlock was on with his smellies too

The have 1 in the 2 star basic luxury watches (Swiss), although they didn't actually appear on screen, they just had a couple on their web site, Tag Heuer.

They've had 5 in the 1 star entry luxury level (Swiss), which are Aviator, Mathey-Tissot, Roamer (although haven't had them for over a year), Gevril & GV2.

1 from the 1 star entry luxury level (other) which is Sturmanskie.

3 in the Watches (Swiss) which are, Swiss military by Hanowa, Swiss Military by Chrono & Traser.

Apart from Vostok Europe, all the brands that made the list have one thing in common that the rest of the Ideal world brands don't do, they are all proper watchmaking brands, they make (or assemble if preferred) their own watches, where as the rest all have their watches made (or assembled) by others for them.

The rest of IW brands, 42 on IW web site, didn't make the list as nobody has bothered recommending them for the list, they would all fall in to the watches (other) category if they had.

Looks like Swan & Edgar watches with different name on them. :ROFLMAO:

I caught some of that show. What gets me is this. Peter always asserts the fragrancies he brings to selly telly are just as good as those selling in high end stores for x times as much.

This may or may not be true, I know nowt about pefume!

However, as with many products, it's about the brand, the provenance, the overall consumer and receiver experience. Okay I'm taking extremes to make my point, but would someone rather receive a bottle of Henry Jacques from Harrods or a bottle of 'Decadence by Peter Sherlock' from a shopping channel?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not being a snob about this. Obviously not everyone can buy expensive products and it's great if selly telly brings products to air that give a faux/similar experience in terms of the actual product (in this case the perfume inside the bottle) however stop with this nonsense that it offers the same overall experience, because it doesn't.

Peter Simon said some years ago that the (cheap) perfume Charlie was one of the top 10 perfumes in the world! Women of a certain age (like myself) will remember it well, I wore it when I was a teenager. And I remember Peter Sherlock and his perfume making, my late mum used to imagine him creating it in a large bucket😂

It can be as much about the bottles too which equate with the perfume, there are some divine bottles out there. Peter Sherlock's are bog standard and unattractive. One I saw, the awful label was wonky.

Good luck to him though, he seems to be selling plenty.

Agreed, I never decry anyone making a living … as long as they're doing it at least semi-honestly!

Mike M is really beginning to get on my nerves. The whole cockney cheeky chappie/goddess thing is increasingly irritating. If he's not careful he's going to overtake Orson Wells as the person who I 'grab for the remote as soon as I see them'.

Yeah I don't watch him for any length of time but do watch him for a few mins here and there as a type of self punishment and to sit in awe of his smugness and talking utter guff. Everything he's selling ... EVERY item ... has the Internet 'in meltdown' apparently such is the speed with which people are buying.

Funny how, even though the Internet has been in meltdown, some of the items are still for sale in later shows, MMmm I wonder why??? Could it be the presenter is telling porkies again?!?

So the next time your Internet goes down at home, don't blame your provider, it'll just be because Mike Mason is doing a live show, causing INTERNET MELTDOWN :)
