Used to get really wound up, but with Peter and watches I can't stop laugh at some of the utter nonsense he comes out with.

I hopped on and within seconds, and I mean seconds, I heard him say something like

The first time it was like Dirty Peter was making an address the nation announcing the world would end unless someone bought a Traser . Truly ridiculous.

Then, he got news in his ear that Muriel wanted one for her nephew . Absurd.

And there was "NIGEL......JIM......you have to check out. I will try to give everyone who buys a name-check".

Can you imagine, somewhere in the UK: "Quick Jim, get your payment through......Pedro will give you a mention!"

If these name checks are real, then how does he know who they are buying for. Website won't ask that and I doubt the Ireland based call centre have time to ask who its being purchased for.

The old guy in the VEurope trailer is not in a vintage plane or a fighter plane.
He's in a specialy designed plane for aerobatics probably not more than five years old?

As we've said with many of the watches on sale on IW, if you are just after a watch for everyday use and you like it and willing to pay then fine, your money, your choice. But if you are a collector and want have build a decent/good collection then IW is not the place for you to be shopping at.
Okay not everybody can't afford a collection with a Rolex, Omega, Tudor etc, but you don't need to own the big brands to have a decent/good collection, there are hundreds of affordable brands out there who'll give you more horology bang for your buck than IW brands do. Now there are a few brands on IW (VE, Mathey-Tissot, Traser) which could be part of a watch collection, but again IW is not the place to get them, shop around and you'll find better prices & much more detailed technical information on your watch purchase elsewhere. There are also a couple of brands whose watches would be good enough to be part of a collection at the right price, but i would never buy them because of the marketing tactics of the brand owners, namely Nubeo (or any Solar Time watch) & Dechump.

As for his Collectors buying all to re-sell, if they are doing that then they ain't collectors in my book. If a collector has a few grand sitting around to buy watches, i highly doubt they'd be buying watches from IW. While some collectors will sell watches as a side business to finance future purchases for their own collection, they certainly wouldn't be using IW as a source for watches to re-sell. If they are then they are obviously either new to watch collecting or know very little about watches.

Totally agree. These watches are of very poor quality and manufacture. Certainly not worth the money they charge.

Selling a Heritor watch last night for £269.99. Two things to say. Can be had cheaper elsewhere. Also, yes taste is subjective, but how the heck do you easily tell the time with this design? It would make my head hurt trying to pick out the hour and minute hand!

On a serious note, IW will say they're the home of bargains, but time and time again we find their wares cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks for the positive comments. I do value the camaraderie here and enjoy nearly all the posts.

I think it is both sad and unfair that one particular individual has been causing unhappiness, quite happily so for them for at least a year. Yes, you can block them, but really, you shouldn’t have to. You ask the moderators for help proactively and essentially nothing happens. Moderators should be there to moderate out unacceptable behaviour by those crashing in on a good atmosphere on a regular basis to cause upset and enjoying it. Remember….we aren’t seeking this member out. They are coming on here and upsetting people. I felt we had no support the other day when it was needed and asked for. Trolls and trolling should be dealt with firmly. From what we publicly know, at least, nothing is being done. That doesn’t make it fun to post at the present time. Also, I’m not continuing to pay £4.99 per month to support a site that allows trolling to go on in this way.

Hopefully things will change for the better over this issue, and it will be a nice place to try and have a laugh in again.

We do intervene where necessary.

You have to appreciate not everyone will share the same view as to what is and isn't inappropriate behaviour.

Just because someone doesn't share the same opinion as you doesn't mean they are disruptive or a troll. As for members being someone from IW, unless we are given proof there is nothing we can do.

In terms of paying to support the site, that is voluntary.
