And Frozen Mash which was totally gross do not buy

Husband had turkey, sprouts and left over pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and stuffing with gravy. My son had turkey and chips, and I had a turkey sandwich.

Do you not make a fry up?

Cut everything up into small bits (turkey, beef, PiB, chipolatas/little sausages, peas, carrots) and throw it into frying pan with mashed tatties and the stuffing, mix, stir and fry, then serve lashings off brown sauce over the top.

I've been in all day again, can't be bothered to go out. Shops will be too crowded and damp outside so don't fancy a walk.

Boxing Day morning collectiive dog walk with my partner’s family was on offer. I declined. I walk dogs for a living, and while I DO walk two of my three (the other is 17 years old and beyond long walks other than in a rucksack), a three miles plus route march at speed through Attenborough Nature Reserve on narrow paths full of people with the same idea, is too much like a Busman’s Holiday for me. Of course, her family see that as not being part of things and essentially antisocial. But if you are lucky enough to get there, you get to an age in life where magically, you begin to make some decisions to look after YOU and not to placate others - regardless of how they then see it. Boxing Day dinner with more of her family today. I should be grateful, as if I was on my own (as I would be but for her), that social requests like these would be virtually nonexistent. Strike that - they would completely nonexistent.

Life is complicated isn't it? I always used to be a people pleaser but that's not good as people sometimes take advantage of that. I agree about getting to a stage when you consider your own needs more.

You're in a no win situation - with people who may not like your decisions, or totally on your own. A friend of mine had a terrible Christmas due to divorced in-laws who both visit. My friend said she needed some fresh air yesterday and rang me, she needed a break from it all. Her husband challenges some things but not enough. As I say, life is complicated!

Just finshed off the remains of the half chicken crown from yesterday (reheated in foil), some fresh pigs in blankets, roast pots, roast parsnips, sprouts, carrots, swede and button mushrooms. Remembered the bread sauce, but the onions in it didn't soften much.

Remaining half Christmas pudd from yesterday beckons, may wait a few mins first.

Hot water belt, Sherpa blankets and portable heaters should do the trick. Wonder where you could source them from.

Yes, I always buy a large crown, for cold cuts, sandwiches, and the remnants my husband turns into a curry for him and my son. I have a smaller crown in the freezer for New Year's day.

Jazzy, I believe there is another cocktail called Sex on the Beach. Obviously I would never have a drink with such a naughty name, and I definitely didn't drink one a couple of weeks ago on my Christmas meet up with family

Ha ha love that your mum has just discovered cocktails!!! Porn star martinis are lovely, I like mojitos as well and M&S cans are very nice, I could make my own but too lazy. Hope the day wasn't too tiring with all the cooking, and hope your mum has a lovely birthday tomorrow.
