You wanted just one of them...Just the ONE...to say something along the lines of 'The channel is in big trouble... that's why these goods are so cheap...you might get it, you might not...but I NEED to offer you an informed choice to buy or not to buy..' Of course, in the real world, if they wanted to work again for another company, they couldn't do that, obviously. But once in a while you just want the decent thing done for the greater good...

That was never going to happen

For me, selling goods without making it clear the company was on its knees is a criminal offence potentially for and by any presenter who knew the channel was due to fold, that goods may not go out, and didn't make that clear to the buyers. Now, it may well be that none of those final days presenters knew there was anything wrong with the company, or even questioned why there were only three of four items left to promote - one a big ticket one. If that was the case, there's nothing wrong in selling items as normal to viewers the day before a channel goes kaput. Depends what you are inclined to believe was the reality of the situation.

Duke, you are the only person in history who thinks TJC is too serious!

I think you have just caught the serious "selly" presenters so far

Great post about the website the amount of voucher codes that work (when they shouldn't really) is very good for the customer

I have bought maybe a dozen things last few years a couple of issues that very quickly resolved on live chat on the website

As I said many times before they drop in a lot of Amazon-like phrases including this current "prime time" deals promotion and Tjc Plus

If you want something unless it is about to sell out for sure then leave it in your basket for a day or so go back and try the codes again and 85% of the time you can get free delivery (or they email you a new code just for you which works) I have Coupert and Honey on my browser getting all the codes for you and they auto-apply them also at the same time always use the code that is on the website that particular day

They obviously have the tech side quite well sorted these days as if you show any interest in a product they will do as much as possible to get you buying it even if it means taking a bit of a hit

I have had a good look around social media including the dreaded Linkedin today and it appears those that were left were a pretty close unit (you would have to be) HOWEVER they all have stated the same thing "a great place to work until the last 12/18 months when it wasn't"

Very interesting post. Tells me a lot I didn’t know and gives me a much better understanding of how it works, both online and on screen. Have not long got in from work and have been watching it for about half an hour. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be able to get used to it, or rely on it for any form of entertainment factor as I did with Ideal World. From watching, it appears to be too professional, and therefore too dull. I miss the chaos of IW. Also watched that smarm meister Brook on QVC last night simpering about some bloody mattress. He could have oiled my chips for a whole year. Nothing really now for me to watch on ‘real‘ shopping television now the channel has gone. Which for me is very sad in many different ways!! It was never about the goods for me. It was about a comedy.
Admittedly I went off on a bit of a TJC tangent as a fan of their site/service, not their mainly jewellery/TV channel per se - and this is a shopping telly forum primarily!

Don't think I've seen & then bought anything I've seen on the TJC TV channel.

Their Gamages watches on screen made me investigate their website and discover their cornucopia of delights! 🤪

Agreed their TV channel is not 'entertaining' in that IW sense, I dip in/out occasionally to see what's selling (and their app is good too).

Even the Gamages and other watch segments don't entertain either, compared to IW hyperbole!

P.S. c&c I only get on Freeview until maybe 10pm?

But as I'm not into jewellery or crafting, which I really don't get all the stencils, weird printing gadgets and Brother kit, (although the line of Sara Davies tells me it's a multi millions business!) So I don't watch TJC TV or C&C much except for secs to see what's on and if anything different.

c&c goes into nighttime repeats from 10pm

On my basic Freeview tv (not HD/Play, not checked that yet) it just goes to no signal after 10pm, channel 85. Guess they're channel frequency/bandwidth sharing with one of the other channels that starts at 10pm...

P.S. I just had a related brainwave re B&M/Aldi/george@asda bulk buy channel....

How about IW channel becomes.....

COSTCO discount warehouse TV?!??! 🤪☺️😲😚😁👵👴😜😆❓

Anybody else missing my name is Den,hardly moved during the treadmill hours, fitness was never so slow but effective, makes you think what golden tv moments are now lost forever?

First candid presenter comment I’ve seen.
Also something unpleasant written about the gentleman in the photograph underneath it, but I couldn’t fit it all in for the screenshot. Of course, it could be a pretend Alan Ennis, but it certainly has an edge to it.

Wow that’s strong, So it comes over as the workers could see what was happening, and the owner wasn’t taking notice, what a dunce as Alan says, for not turning up on the day, he obviously couldnt face it, and the young woman collapsing, as she had took out her first mortgage and has lost her job, she is the staff you feel sorry for, if she is single, she is gonna end up having to cancel her mortgage if she can, and go back to her parents, and the owner doesn’t give a damn

As you know Duke as a football fan, a new owner has to pass a test. To see if they are fit to own, obviously nothing like that happened

He always seemed to me, to be somebody who was a passionate speaker. Somebody who you would feel would speak out when a wrong was done - unlike some others. He certainly has come out in defence of how badly the staff were treated at the end. Credit to him for that. In this world of fakery it is a pleasure to actually witness somebody speaking their mind and telling us what they really think. What also would have been good to hear from him in addition, and the other presenters and demonstrators, would be some public message of sympathy for Ideal World’s customers-particularly the ones who have not received the goods they purchased in the last few days of the company trading. Ennis’s tweet also makes it pretty clear the problems behind the scenes were known by all, but nothing was done to address them - least, in appears to Ennis’s opinion.

Many moons ago, if anyone remembered SHOP! ( I loved that channel) when they went, they actually had a closing down sale. Ok, big difference in that it didn't "go under" so to speak, the company (Littlewoods) who were behind it must've decided that it wasn't profitable enough for them. From what I'm reading about IW, they knew. It's a shame that they just bumbled on to the last minute allowing customers to believe that nothing's wrong and shifting stock at full price knowing that there's a heavy chance that they won't receive their orders, and if they did there'd be no recompense should anything be wrong - just terrible!

I remember Shop and yes it had a proper closing down sale, it had good presenters, DebI Jones, Simon Brown, Antony Heywood, Dean Wilson, Dave Bradford and bizzarely Andy Crane.

If I remember the demise of ITV Digital didnt help.

Think that looks like a fake or different Alan Ennis account. Been on the go since 2021 with no personal information etc, no tweets just that one reply.

There is this one, which looks like an official one (you can see the differences), but doesn't seemed to have used it for years.

He's a pizza van and various other businesses so shouldn't be a problem for him finding work.

As for IW, well all i'm going to say is the serious problems IW were suffering from existed loooong before Hamish Majaria got involved, so blaming him seems like passing the buck, they were on a downward spiral that needed a miracle to reverse, the presenters, senior management, middle management and so called "expert guest"/"demonstrators" can all take the blame for that, most of them needed sacking years ago. And i can't believe that staff weren't aware of the serious prediciment the company were in so all this unexpected shock just doesn't cut it, yeah i have sympathy with the low level staff (non decision makers) losing jobs, but can't believe staff felt they were in secure jobs given what had happened just a couple of years ago.

If we, with no connection to company, could see how financially badly IW were doing, then i'm pretty sure staff could as well.

Interesting, Hammy, on the potentially fake AE Twitter account. I too suspected that it might not be genuine. The interesting thing again, is that whoever has written it, (if indeed it is somebody else) has written it in the style very much in how he speaks. In other words, you could imagine those words coming out of his mouth.

Used to really like that channel. Though the guy who was their technology expert came over as a bit of a tw..buffoon. No, not Lee from QVC...
