I need nail kale I think ......
Just to add L'Occitane hand cream is great for nails too imho
Good luck with with the suggestions -I can say that my nails were rubbish -I even used stick ons they were so poor -when I used quality products as I've mentioned (OPI is my absolute favorite) they have massively improved and I am so pleased .. right now it's time to paint OPI Cuckoo for this colour :)

I had terrible peeling nails but Leighton Denny's Renovate and Buffer completely healed them and let them grow at last. It's miraculous stuff. Only drawback is, you can't really use polish when you are using it because the surface stays a bit too oily/shiny,and I found that whatever polish I used would come straight off.

I guess we all have different nails and hands but for me, I use Leighton Denny's Biobuild Remover, then his Biobuild serum, then the Biobuild base coat, then two coats of his colour, then LD Crystal Finish topcoat, and it stays on and chip free for over a week. This is the only brand that does that for me, and I've tried them all. Bit annoying actually, because I love Nails Inc wacky ones.

I have tried all the QVC nail products ...the best is LD's crystal nail file, and the worst is Seche Vite ...after a few days the polish just peeled off. Imo none of the polishes warrant the price. I have gone back to the dreaded high street and good old Boots No7.

'Some health conditions can result in peeling of both fingernails and toenails, but if only your fingernails are affected, the cause is likely to be external.
Most cases of splitting nails are caused by moisture. Repeatedly wetting and drying your hands, and, by extension, your fingernails, can cause the nails to dry out. Too much moisture can also weaken the nails, softening them and causing them to peel.'

Try looking at what shampoo, bath products etc etc you are using.

LD nail file, as per LD, seals the end of the nail and stops the moisture getting in. Renovate is also good as it puts a 'seal' on the nail. However, the downside as Cariad posted, is you cannot wear nail polish. Now would be a good time to start the Renovate treat in time for Christmas parties.

p.s. Last post for me . . .

Good post Ginger, especially pointing out that if the toenails are not affected then likely to be external factors. No need to stop contributing.

Any advice for my continually peeling nose?

Thank you Ginger, that was very helpful. I do tend to wash my hands a lot, especially when I am at home. Seen as I have been off work for 5 weeks, this could be the culprit of my recent crappy nails!! I am having a polish free week and am planning on picking up some Renovate at the weekend. I just happened to find a set of mini Avoplex Juices (OPI, is that what they're called?) in TKM so, as well as trying to cut down on the handwashing, I will make more of an effort to apply handcream to the nails. Avoplex oil is too much of a potch to use every time.

There's no need to go. Your last two posts have been very helpful. If you have enjoyed watching the forum, chalk it up to experience, hang around and join in. We have all have our moments!

Quick Question , what cleanser are you using? and are you toning after?

I used to get that but since going back to C&P and now Pro radiance Cleanser and toning afterwards its stopped, ive also been slapping on the collagen Gel and PCMC at night mixed with alittle Propolis gel.

I really think getting the right cleanser can be more important that finding the best moisturiser.

I'm using Boots Skinclear in the morning, followed by Judith Williams's Phytomineral cream. Evenings Time BOMB cleansing cream, followed by by Dermavio Q10 innovations day cream. No toners.
I wonder if the anti ageing cream are to blame. I do know that the dry skin started with the HRT tablets.

You could do with pairing back your routine alittle to find out if its one specific product thats causing it, perhaps try a week or two using the same cleanser morning and night and see if that helps or not, also maybe it would be worth adding a toner into your routine.

My nails split vertically mainly but that's because they're very dry and ridged. Fortunately only the very tip splits normally so I can cut them off and get rid of the split. Although my nails are normally long, I don't mind if one breaks and I have to chop the lot off. I used to repair them but I haven't done that as much lately.

I'm pretty sure that my nails have improved now I use decent clippers instead of scissors or filing them down. Filing took forever as they grow like billy-o so I used to cut them. I think clippers are much better for my nails.

I like to use clippers too (although if my nails are quite long it sets my teeth on edge when I clip!), and then finish off with Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File which I think is ace.

I will try Trind at some point. Donna recommends it and when I was in a shop a while back asking for Leighton Denny's Renovate a customer overheard me and said get Trind. I wanted Renovate as having good results with it. Fancy trying the Trind next on my breaks from Red Carpet manicure. I reckon the Renovate whitens nails as well whilst the nail envy seems to yellow the nails after a few days.

Slightly OT, I have had a problem over the past 2 years with 2 (the sAme ones) toe nails. All of a sudden they just come away from the bed (hope that's what it's called) in one piece.

Apart from holidays I don't wear nail varnish and I try to keep to a good diet. They look healthy enough but then suddenly they just lift off.

Any ideas what it could be?
