Pet Insurance ... yes or no?

What a morning! The vets need a rocket up the proverbial! That little episode will not have done your blood pressure any good. Fingers crossed the vet keeps her promise. It is difficult to type at the moment as I have Katya sitting on my arm as I am lying down on the bed exhausted having just cleaned the whole house with two curious kittens in tow. Really need to get going again but as Katya is obviously enjoying herself and bossy Boris is relegated to the bottom of the bed I'll do some surfing on the iPad. Keep us updated on the medicine.

as you know i've been seeing vet james for 20 years since he was the junior and now he's the boss. rachel who we saw today was just lovely and even before i complained, made a point of saying she will tell james what happened when he comes back on monday afternoon. i told her it's not the first time i've had an issue with the receptionists and that i was bordering on seething mad. she replied through gritted teeth "SO am i". it's a bit like my gp practice - all the doctors are lovely but the receptionists are the archetypal dragons.

I hope you gave the receptionist a piece of your mind Janie. Poor little Louis and poor you, what an ordeal. I hope you can both enjoy the rest of the day peacefully, all cwtched up and cosy:)

Waiting for the next bulletin.

i would have done mam if qvc hadn't had me spitting fire (a whole separate thread ;))

the vet did ask me twice who it was but it was a week ago and i couldn't remember for sure. i think i know who it was but not sure so wasn't going to name any names. anyway, i have the drugs now that someone went and collected from the specialist vet and one of the nurses who lives fairly near me, delivered them. i rang to confirm they ordered biscuits and they're coming on monday.

Poor old Janie, just read your bracelet thread, thank goodness you managed to get one in the end. Put your feet up and have a G&T, if anyone needs one you do.

Hope you've got enough goodies to keep Louis going until Monday and that you at least have a better night. xxxx

Louis report day 34 - my little sweetpea purred all through his meds. it's a lot of fiddling about and takes about 20 mins. he was a little angel  he's now sound asleep in the wardrobe :sleepy: which despite having enough clothes for everyone in hampshire and almost no storage, i've obviously lost forever :smirk:

syringes and assorted drug paraphernalia washed, litter tray washed and refilled, food dishes washed, food weighed out for upstairs and downstairs (we're weighing now, not counting) and mama's relaxing with a cuppa :coffee:

Bless him and well done you - your patience and perseverence has won through. Do hope this continues to get easier for both of you and that Louis is getting stronger and fitter.

he's so much better than when i brought him home disenchanted. he's even had a little play once or twice :) i was a bit disappointed he hadn't really put on weight as he's been eating so well but the vet wasn't. he's 160g heavier than he was at his lowest and she said she wouldn't have expected him to have put on more than 1%. he's 5.06kg and his normal weight is about 6.4. he looks thin to me but he didn't to the vet :)

So glad little Louis is on the road to recovery. He definitely sounds like he has taken over your wardrobe, he he!!

From mobile, please excuse any silly errors!! :)

Good news janie.
I would say that if he's moving around OK & not keeling over, his lower weight is not an issue at this stage. He's eating & drinking so that gain will come in time in time.
In Louis' time lol.

heheee - i think happy and contented might be stretching a point mam. grumpy and bored would be more accurate ;) to be fair, i think he's coping very well. he's very much an outside cat, so being confined indoors is itself torture for him. he's also obviously been through an awful lot so i can't blame him when he gets a bit aggresive. the drugs have to be given every 12 hours and if that's not a good time for him, he complains. unfortunately, he has to put up with it.

we've had quite a peaceful day today - he's been looking out the windows, we've had cuddles and now he's back in his safe haven - the wardrobe. he hasn't eaten very much but i hope he'll make up for that later :)

edit to add - he would be delighted with the fame. he's quite a show-off :giggle:

Great news janie, he seems to be hopefully on the road to recovery. And why do cats love wardrobes and cardboard boxes? They
do have some strange wonderful habits LOL x So happy for you both

Sensible cat wanting to get back outside. Hope he can soon.

trouble is with louis, he thinks he can take on anything which is why the vet calls him a chancer. he'd be in a scrap within minutes, so at the very minimum he'll have to stay in until the tube comes out.

thanks barbs :) i think diamond diva was spot on when she said lou feels safe in the wardrobe because no-one (me) ;) can sneak up on him from behind ;)

Yes i can see it as a "secret" place he can go to when he doesn't want you to find him. He wants to rest
and relax and probably sleep in peace. And its good he's clever enough to do that. Its his idea of "me"
time. But you're doing so well with the tube etc. Probably second nature to you now. You should be proud
of yourself and give janie a pat on the back. Or Louis will. My son says if you blink slowly at cats and they
do it back , its called giving you a kiss. Don't know if its true, but his cat does it, and sometimes Hopey
does, or maybe its just my imagination LOL Keep going you're a :star:

awwww, thanks barbs  not second nature - i'm still nervous every time. especially if he starts growling and i think he's going to try and run. something he's doing that he's never done before is sort of snoring while he's awake. i worried at first because the poisons from the pancreas can get in the bloodstream and damage the lungs. then i remembered he had a normal chest x-ray. :whew: when i mentioned it to a friend who has 2 cats, she said they both do it all the time.

i read something about the slow blink and i think it said it was a cat's smile but yep you're right - it's a kitty kiss.

i've tried it with louis when he's been on my lap and he just looked at me as if i was nuts.

LOL keep trying the eye blink, they are so smart they pick up on it. And Hopey sort of snores all the
time, sometimes louder than me LOL.
