Well, yesterday marked the end of an era. Hubby finally bought a car and admitted defeat in the old biking dilemma. He has had a few accidents in the 8 years I've known him. The last one was last Oct and to cut a long story short, he almost didn't make it. His ribs still haven't healed and he still struggles with his breathing from his punctured lung. He still has a huge bone sticking out of his shoulder which causes him grief - one year on.
Anyway, after much soul searching he has decided to hang up his leathers. I know how hard a decision it was for him. I ride myself and when I decided to stop it was bad enough, but he has ridden for a lot longer than me and rode a lot more than me. I was a sunny weekend warrior!! If anyone is a biker, or knows a biker, you will know that once it's in your blood there is no going back.
I wanted him to stop road riding and stick to the track. Although I would never tell him to give up, I think the stress the accident put me under worried him and, admittedly for once, I think he put me first in his decision. It also scared him, and he felt guilty about the time off work, as he has a very responsible job. So all in all, he made his decision. He still needs a toy though, he is a petrol head and needs speed and something in the garage to tinker with!!
So yesterday we drove all the way to Silverstone to buy this!!
I have to admit, I wanted a Porsche - something a bit more comfortable and luxurious!! However, I have fallen in love with this!! It's a bugger to get in and out of, and there is no storage to speak of (and no power steering), but as a pure toy it has grins firmly fixed on our faces!! We pick it up next Saturday. I can't wait!!
From mobile, please excuse any silly errors!!
