Great thread, very funny. Its so true, her and Julia patronising the audience, many of whom, must be like me, and are true couch potatoes with no intention of buying her ugly and lethal looking contraption!

How are they patronising? They are demonstrating it for those people who are not couch potatoes and want to buy it.

Today has been the first time that I have really paid attention to the AeroPilates presentations and I am really impressed. I really do think that it will address some of the issues that my MS presents me with. Anyway, I have just placed my order. The Easy Pay makes all the difference. I'll report back in a month!

I really hope it works for you Mia, and makes a positive difference to your life.

Linda xx

Thank you Linda. When you are feeling unwell kind comments like yours make such a difference. x

(1) Many of the exercises on the pilates machine need the legs, which they often forget to mention, and they seem to be an extortionate price at £117 inc PP.

(2) I bought the Tony Little multigym from Q as it seems to do everything the pilates machine does, and LOADS more as well.

These days though, I only use it for sit-ups/crunches, set to an angle of about 45deg head down, with my feet in the straps at the high end (3 x 50 with a short break between them every other day). It took quite a while to build up to this, starting with a much lower angle and only about 20 at first.

I also hang my clothes on it when I get undressed!

I have about 3 other Q gym gadgets, but no longer use them, so they are permanent clothes horses.
:happy::

I have MAJOR issues with my back (8 prolapsed discs) of which 4 are recent, also a leg that does not bend properly due to OA and RA. I do in fact have a pilates machine HOWEVER... when I went to my GP as advised by MB before embarking on using it, he would not say it would help - only wanted to palm me off with strong meds and to see a spinal specialist. I ended up buying a pilates machine off ebay for £5!!! I kid you not!! could not believe it....don't think the seller was pleased to sell it to me at that price but oh well... so I ended up giving it a go and tbh I had problems just getting down to the thing, but I perservered and after a few weeks was able to actually do a little bit and felt a lot better BUT I was very careful and cautious not to overdo it... the problem was though, that it was laying smack in the middle of my lounge and everyone was getting really fed up of walking around it and saying it took up all the space so it was carted off to the storage area in the garden of which my hubby was trying to make out to be a gym....and so far, it has just sat there as I hate having to drag myself 100 feet down the garden to a cold damp shed to try to do some exercise.... however, I am determined to 'shake myself up' and give it a go again as it did help at the time. I will see what the specialist says (if they will) and go from there. I might add however, that my Son who has no medical problems absolutely LOVES the machine and says he feels great afterwards

That's really helpful, DMS, but I can see myself being a bit like you, re the machine being stuck in the middle of the living room, then getting moved elsewhere and not being used. Maybe the portable one the Q have had on? I also have both OA and RA or, at least that's what my GP diagnosed. The old QVC favourite, Arnica gel, is really effective and DOES get used. Maybe I'd be better sticking to that.

I forgot to mention that the point of my previous post was that the Tony Little gym was less than half the price of the pilates machine.

I haven't seen it on Q recently though, it used to make a regular appearance, and it is the reason I first found this forum when I googled it.

Mia, my Dad has MS so I know how miserable it can be for you. I hope the pilates machine helps you. If nothing else all that bouncing will make you smile!! That's worth a lot some days. My dad is now in a wheelchair but having intensive physio on a daily basis, which has helped him get up and walk a few steps! A mammoth achievement as you can imagine. You sound like you have a positive outlook - in my opinion that's half the battle ;)

Take good care of yourself :D xx

Yes I'm a fan of Tony Little too. I've got his strider, got it from Ebay for £60. It's far more robust than the other one I had before. I recall seeing pilates equipment selling quite cheap on Ebay. I think a lot of people buy it then sell it to get their room back or just loose interest.

I am sorry to hear about you Dad and I wish him well. I have always approached it with a positive attitude but this latest attack is really bad and the medication is not really helping me as it has in the past. However, I remain optimistic. I have ordered the Pilates machine but more importantly I have ordered the LG Quilted Wanda in Mink, which appeared back in stock ( must be a return! ). Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. x
