Agree that Hotel Chocalat is the best, we have a shop in town but they are for special treats only.
My normal chocolate faves are walnut whips, though they don't taste like they used to. All of the well known chocolate box flavours have changed over the years, but not for the better.

hmmmm...i don't remember hazlenut whirls in yellow wrappers. do that have caramel in them?

Taking this thread off down a slightly different route ... what a shocker! ... what are your favourite chocolates? Mine has to be those Lindt gobstopper chocolates.
For me it's: Thornton's Vienese truffles, Milky Bar, Galaxy, Bournville, Black Magic, Old Jamaica, Green & Blacks, and in fact anything covered a in a good quality plain chocolate.

I quite like Lily's but only buy when they're on special in the supermarket, much nicer are Butler's choccies & even better they've got several Chocolate Cafes dotted around Dublin.
I think they might even have a few in the UK so treat yourself to one of their fab Capuccinos or Hot Chocolates if you find one (you get a free choccy of your choice with your tea/coffee) which is a nice touch.

My dd phoned me this evening saying she'd got her first Christmas pressie in work,a Butler's hamper & as usual she's giving it to me!!

I remember them frazzled but i though they were in clear wrappers with orange round the edges, I loved them. I adored the Neapolitans too , especially the orange and ones. Ooh this is taking me back to my childhood. Happy days!!

Star bars, lion bars were delicious too. Do you remember chocolate tools?

Thornton's Sicilian Lemons & Vanilla Truffles are my favourites..I ask for a bag (or two..!) of each for Xmas...I got a box of their Premium chocs for my b/d and lovely, I liked every one of them which is a change as I don't do hard centres or nuts! Also their Summer Fruits..

Going back to topic, have never tried Lily O'Brien chocs..

PS - yes! Neapolitans - my sis and I used to love them when we were kids!

BM do you remember the jelly fruits you used to be able to get in a box. Can't remember who made them but they were lovely.

Anything then?? lol. Well anything in plain chocolate. Ooo can you still get Old Jamaica? I liked that although I really do prefer milk chocolate.

Aha..! Yes, I'd forgotten those! Another "lost" product - Weekend...boxed chocs & candies, anyone remember those?

Yes, I do! We're showing our age now - next thing you know we'll be reminiscing about lemonade bottles with marbles in the stoppers and the Corona delivery man!
