I got one!

Wow, really well done, Claire! I clicked Purchase at a second or two past 10.00 and was held in a queue (they said 13 mins till I could check out) but it said then changed to Sold Out at 10.07.

Are they charging for P&P? Not that I would resent it at that price.

I went on as soon as it opened. Was in a queue but just advised sold out and item removed from basket.

Sounds similar to me. Last time it was slower, ie I was holding on for much longer, as I recall. Consoling myself with the thought I don’t need any of it! And I have won three £10 off vouchers at Lidl in the last few months!

The hand cream is as good as L'Occitane one.

I tried the L'Occitane shea-butter hand-cream as part of a bundle deal a while back.
Best hand-cream ever. This is one product that lives up to the hype.
I don't have a Lidl near me, only 2 Aldi stores, but I would make the effort just for the hand cream!

Edit: Found one near me that must be fairly new, so didn't realise it was there as I don't often go to this particular town, so I'll be on a mission Thursday!

There is also a Primark in the shopping precinct . Oh no, Help! I may be some time!

So I’ve had my Lidl box for a week now so thought I would come back and give my opinion in the contents!
I’ve never used anything from Lidl before, but I do use Aldi beauty products and handwash.

First thing to say is it’s never going to be a bad deal when each item is approximately 26p! And it’s always good to try something new, and this is definitely the way to do it! £5 and free tracked postage is a bargain! But…I wouldn’t buy any of it again.

The best items were the tea bags the multivitamin gummies (eat your heart out Abi Cleeve) and the pot of honey. All really nice and worth £5 on their own.

The candles look nice. But I’m used to Aldi’s candles which are superb. These smoke a bit and don’t have any fragrance.
The reed diffusers also have very little fragrance, and the actual reeds were very flimsy and one broke. We’ve ended up having to reuse the Aldi reeds.

The white stuff dupe set isn’t too bad but it’s really fragranced, which I don’t like. So I think I’m going to use it to handwash items that will get rinsed.. either that or bin it…

The L’Occitanne dupe handwash looks nice, and I love lavender but the pump won’t work…so I will stick it into my Aldi soap bottle when it’s finished.
The tube of handcream isn’t bad at all. Not as good as body shop or Aldi but not bad. Once you can get it out of the tube…I had to use a darning needle to widen the opening.

The aromatic body wash is quite nice. Bit of a funny smell but it doesn’t linger. It’s not MB but it’s fine for the price and does the job nicely.

So it sounds like lots of nit picking, but with the exception of the food items, there was nothing I really loved or would consider buying again. It’s all fine for 26p an item, but I wouldn’t pay full price for any of it.
Glad to have the opportunity to try it all out but I’m sticking with Aldi which is much better quality.

Well, you ungrateful wretch. And to think someone more appreciative and definitely deserving (ie me) could have had that!

But seriously, as you say, at least you don’t feel the £5 was wasted and you got to try things without paying more. I haven’t had that many of the items either and I don’t fancy some of it, but I like the tea bags and honey as well - I buy them all the time. I haven’t had a lot of success with Lidl candles (I find the wax too hard so they don’t melt well - not that impressed with Aldi candles either, though, as I’ve had similar problems). I have stocked up on Lidl’s Rituals dupe diffusers, however. I keep on about it but the Green Garden one is the best diffuser I have ever had (and I have had a few worth £25+ as gifts). The one in the room next to the kitchen which usually has all the cooking smells for a day or so is masking that so well and it is still going strong 4 months later.

On balance, I’d agree Aldi probably has better bodycare/beauty things but they have a much, much bigger range and are far more innovative with their expanding ranges. Having said that, I have gone off their Jo Malone hand/body dupes and currently prefer Lidl’s as they have better fragrances for my tastes. Aldi have such good Specialbuy perfumes and even though my nearest shop is nearly half an hour away as opposed to Lidl which is 2 minutes, I will always enjoy a visit, if only occasionally to see their specials (I don’t buy much of their food).

I need to try that green garden I hate the smell of cooking. I use candles which I sometimes forget about which is a definite NO NO!

As long as your nose picks up the same sorts of things as mine, you should find it helps. (There’s always that risk with “recommendations” because of the way we each react to smells.) I should add that the diffuser is quite near where I walk through the room (ie not on a shelf on a far wall) and the room is fairly small. But anyway, if you go for it some time, be interesting to hear how you find it, even if you come on here to shout at me!
