I still have 3 tins of Lambertz shortbread from last Christmas obviously out of date now.

I spent £23.45 on a tin of chocolate gingerbread, and it was amazing, and yes it did come in a pretty tin. I knew I was paying a lot of money, but I thought I was getting something not widely available over here, despite knowing about the German discounters. What peed me off even more than my own stupidity in not checking these places first was when I found the same brand in Waitrose, ok sold in little bags as opposed to fancy tins for less than £2 a pop, and then discovering that Waitrose own brand selling for around £3 a box looked like it had identical contents - I bought a box to test out my theory, and sure enough it was the same. Had I bought a few boxes of the Waitrose ones I'd have got an extra 6 pieces of gingerbread and would've saved myself nearly £13 (A lot of money just to get them in a tin). Lesson learned buy food in shops!

The Aldi version - little bags of chocolate covered gingerbread - is fabulous and I don’t really like cake! It was 89p a bag if I remember rightly last year and I’m hoping it’s back this year….and soon! All this talk of similar treats is making me hungry

We don’t have Aldi here and I only go to Lidil for certain things. I was in yesterday and notice that they are doing a Sicilian range of goodies. I bought a bag of flavoured nougat sweets.

I love nougat but it must be the hard stuff but Mr L likes the soft so I knew he would probably end up eating it. However whilst it wasn’t hard hard it was fairly firm from the fridge, covered in flavoured chocolate and delicious. Don’t remember the price as Mr L bought it along with other things but it can’t have been an arm and a leg.
