Help Support ShoppingTelly:

I understand. But now, what shall I do? My replacement chopper from the waitlist will arrive today and I thought it to be a nice gadget as long as you don't try the ice cream from the presentation.

Sorry didn't respond to this Ani but I've had a very rough couple of days illness-wise so been off-line!

Wonder if you got your replacement yet or if you'll order the uk version?

IF you have two bowl version you could keep one for savoury and one for sweet to reduce need for thorough washing of the lid?

Mind you, it may only be me who had issues with this washing problem, and not happy with it in general as I heard that they had sold around 1000 not that long into the tsv launch (mind you wait until they get it home I guess?!)
No, am sure if you've got the strength to pull it well and clean it etc it is a useful idea...

I had to smile when someone asked you what a scratcher was because i assumed I was alone in having no idea (and I am certainly NOT critiquing your English because it's amazing, and I know my German will never ever be anywhere near it!! Much as I tried and despite two German exes and one dear friend!
I guess I would translate what you meant as a scraper? I think it's meant to scrape the food back in to the bowl?!

I hope you are getting better soon.:) Well, concerning the chopper, it hasn't arrived yet! Can you believe it! QVC had made a mistake and sent me a wrong tracking number that according to the link they provided belonged to DHL, wheresas they usually send everything via Hermes. So when I checked the link on Friday, I was slightly irritated because it was DHL but it worked and told me the chopper would arrive on Saturday. When I checked again on Saturday (morning / midday), it didn't work any more! CS couldn't help me, neither could DHL and yesterday I had the enlightment of the day trying to check the tracking number with Hermes...and yes, it worked, but there was noch action since last Friday so who knows when the chopper will arrive at last. I haven't ordered the UK version because with the p&p it is much more expensive than the one that was TSV here in Germany, so I guess I'll stick with the replacement - if it will ever arrive, that is...;-)

Oh I am so sorry, I thought "scratcher" would be the right word to use to at least hint at what I meant. Yes, "scraper" is the appropriate word, thank you! :) Does "scratcher" even exist?

Do you practice speaking German? I know that learning German as a foreign language is quite difficult, above all it is the verbs (and the endings of the nouns and pronouns) because there are a lot of different verb types and every one of them is conjugated differently.

My replacement has arrived! I think I am going to keep it, just don't prepare any ice cream in it. By the way, I didn't know there were so many similar choppers out there, I knew there is one from Tupperware, but also other companies seem to have good ones according to Amazon.

It looked like a lower scraper but it wasn't.

It was a different type of blade guard, and there were loads of queries about how to get it off.

Here is a pic of the blade. image.jpg

But the chopper in the link is the one I have since today, and it has the lower scraper which you have to take off to take off the guard.

QVC said you had to take it off to remove the guard (as it didn't look like it was removable).

They didn't say anything about putting it back on, most people thought it was only there to keep the guard in place.

I will experiment when I next use mine, by putting it back on.

But I hope I haven't thrown it away as I've never put the guard back on since I bought it, there is no point, it is safe just kept in the bowl.

Even if I've kept it, I've no idea where to look.

It all sounds like far too much faffing around for my liking. This has all the hallmarks of a gizmo/gadget that gets used once and then consigned to the back of the cupboard, only to re-emerge in the charity bag for disposal.

Definitely not a useless gadget. I use mine all the time to chop onions and other light stuff for casseroles. I like it because it is so easy to clean. I am just packing to go on holiday and it is coming too with my slow cooker for the days when we are not eating out.

It's funny how different we all are! Glad you find yours useful and get plenty of use out of it... But I'm afraid I found it useless and a total pain in the proverbial to clean ;) Sure someone in the charity shop I donated it to (complete with the box etc so as new) will find it really handy! I will stick to my electric mini chopper which I put the whole unit (including the lid) into the dishwasher! That or I will just use a knife haha!

1) Thank you for the get well soon wishes - sadly it's very much a chronic illness and I have been in a relapse for a good year so it seems to be getting worse ATM! :( But I try very hard to remain positive!

2) Scratcher would be something like that actually scratches (ie leaves a mark, or dig or tear something). You can get a back-scratcher to relieve the itch on the back! It's also a slang word for a bad tattoo artist! So now you know ;)

3) German - I did used to practise it. I did GCSE and then an AS level in it (did full A' level in French which is so much easier!) but I got very lazy because all my German and Austrian friends speak such good English that I didn't get much chance... Since I've been ill and housebound I haven't been able to visit and practise there either, sadly because I love Germany :( It IS indeed very hard work to learn but at least it is a very regular language (not many irregular verbs as in English!) so I must try to study it again so I don't forget all I knew!

Glad your pull chopper arrived and hope you find it useful :) I just had a look on uk amazon and you're right, there are loads of pull choppers which really surprised me!
