This isn't directed to KJ personally but I love opera but absolutely hate when opera singers sing popular songs, their voices are just not suitable.

Popular/MOR/show songs require a bit of raw casualness and opera singers just are too structured for this.

It's the musical equivalent of "dad dancing"
 
I think what alienates me is that her mouth smiles.....but not her eyes.....

The pretence of smiling without the warmth maybe???

But then I feel the same about Rosemary Conley.

Nice faces.

Probably wonderful and lovely people.

Just cannot warm to them......"a face I'd like to slap" as my dear old, much missed Mum would say.
 
Wow we many of us feel the same ....felt like I was being a bit mean but maybe an aura coming off of her...I don't always get it right ...but sometimes people give off something if that makes sense ...but then again somebody can seem snotty and turn out to be absolutely lovley ...( Gordon ramsey is Lovley my son said ...met him once ...shook hands immediately and really pleasant bless him ...my so. Was shocked I think lol .....I've hear the nicest people that somebody met was the two gorgeous Princes ...William and Harry and the worst ....Gary Linekar ....meets a lot of celebs .....
 
I think she is a very pretty woman and looks very glamorous but as an opera singer she does not cut it, her voice is too thin. Regards her personality, I don't like to judge her as I don't know much about her and can't believe the gossip columns drivel.

There are many threads on Digitalspy about unpleasant Gary Linekar is by people who have met him.

Cilla Black is another total B*tch going by hundreds of people who over the years had to work with or met her.

Never understood how Cilla Black was given a Lifetime Achievement award,she is not my cup of tea at all.

KJ isn`t my cup of tea as a singer but I know nothing about her personally. She`s a pretty girl though.
Celebs are often up their own backsides that`s true but on the other hand it must be awful trying to have a meal out or a normal family life and be pestered by people even at private times. Fair enough at the end of shows or concerts people might want photos or autographs or simply to tell the celeb how much they`ve enjoyed their show but I reckon most of us would get peed off at other times. I was in a pub restaurant a while ago and one of the Coronation Street actors came in with his wife, child and other family members. They were seated at a table next to us and I lost count of the number of times people interrupted their meal, it simply wasn`t fair.
On the other hand many many years ago I was with a bunch of children who`d gone to watch Harry Corbett do a Sooty show. We were really excited because our Sunday school teacher said she`d arranged for us to meet him at the end of the show. We all traipsed backstage only for him to push past us, not even acknowledge us and grumpily tell someone to move us out of the way. That was well over 50 years ago and it still sticks in my mind.

She was banned from flying British Airways because of her attitude towards the flight attendants apparently.

Agree ,she is not an opera singer,she is just marketed as someone with a reasonable voice who can sing bits of opera. She is pretty,has a good figure and is very marketable so good luck to her.

Dont think think she is ever going to be on the operatic stage singing without amplification.
 
I cannot stand "sniffy " celebs either ...get over yourself ...there are people who have an awful Life ....disabilities ..illnesses etc....we all whinge of course we do but when celebs complain about their lot ....."have a word...." ..they chose to be famous much of the time ....not everybody but a lot seek it out .....that's why I'm glad that fella Paul got voted out of X factor ....had the absolute makings of a diva ....brilliant singer ...but I wont buy his CDs if he ever has anybody stupid enough to take him on ....he will be hard work ...because I cannot abide divas ....make or female ....I make exceptions for Miss Piggy ... The Muppets ...she is adorable :mysmilie_17:
 
Oh that's horrible Vienna ....Lesley crowthernrefused to mine and another child's autograph at Great Yarmouth many years ago...said he was Too Busy...poor man was in a terrible car crash ....would never wish that on anyone and when I watched the docu he seemed to be a lovley man ...my mum was fuming when I told her he wouldnt sign .....it just taints memories a bit but bless him may he rest in peace ....
 
So glad I'm not the only one who can't stand KJ! Thought I was being a cow for disliking her - and I don't know why I don't warm to her either, as I think she probably is a pleasant person... She was best friends with someone I know who died recently and apparently was an amazing support to her though thick and thin (they became friends before K was famous)...

But I am an opera fan and have a musical background and she is not at all a good singer in any genre!! I'm glad her voice and her music seems to give many people pleasure and I don't knock her for that but personally I find her voice nasal and not well trained...!
 
As above, she is certainly not an opera singer. It is symptomatic of a pretty face who can sing in tune being labelled 'an amazing singer' by people like Cowell, the press etc. Her voice would never fill an opera theatre. There is no doubt that if she was a plain Jane she would have never had the career she has. But then such is showbusiness :) Can't blame her for making a living from it.
 
She's actually a total cow. I've been (un)lucky enough to have worked with her once. I think it comes from having a chip on her shoulder about how she got to where she is. Anyway, she was horribly rude to everyone she came across, particularly those whom she felt were 'beneath' her, i.e. production crew, runners, reception staff, wardrobe. Pretty much everyone. She also kept the entire orchestra and choir waiting for about 15 minutes just because she could - came on like some diva princess making demands and complaining that this that and the other wasn't exactly as she'd demanded it. She also expected that people didn't speak to her unless she spoke to them first. Total mare.
 
Wow - and I thought it was just me! I've never been able to warm to her and the word someone used earlier is exactly what I feel about her - "plastic". Pretty girl, lovely figure but I just don't get a personality coming through the face, which makes me feel the whole persona is fake because there's not enough warmth in her voice or the performance. Lovely she may be in real life - I've never met her so I can't say - but she hasn't the personality and on-stage magnetism I look for in a singer. And I also agree that an over-trained voice isn't suited to popular songs.

I wonder if QVC have overestimated the hype this time.
