don’t know much about pressure treatment

Pressure treatment in Amber, combined with heat, turns an Amber that is quite cloudy into a clearer stone.

However, the treatment also darkens the stone - which gives it the 'Cognac' colour that they describe. Before heat and pressure treatment, the Amber likely started out as a more yellow or golden colour, rather than the deep Orange / Brownish-Orange we see on screen.

I think it's an acceptable treatment for jewellery stones - but if I was a collector, I'd want it in its untreated form.

Thank you. Doesn’t sound too bad. At least it sounds permanent.

I rarely watch gems now but have looked in from time to time this birthday. It's a dismal display with nothing exciting or different to the norm! It makes me think that they could be running it into the ground to gain as much revenue as they can before they go under. It just feels very iffy, why on the birthday would they have D.T. Talking for most of each and every hour if they had decent stock to sell. A full hour of jewellery seems to be a thing of the past!. Obviously this is just my opinion does anyone else feel that something is off or is it just me? I wouldn't be surprised if it was just me!!

They won't do that though, because that would mean that they'd have to sell them at 'treated stone' prices.

At the moment, they're selling treated stones for the prices you could get untreated stones elsewhere.
I know and that is a dubious sales method to me. Dishonest even.

There used to be an independent jeweller near to where I lived that specialised in Amber. The majority of his designs incorporated beautiful pale honey coloured amber. Some of his other designs were made with translucent/cloudy yellow amber which was more of a pale banana colour. He had a couple of large pieces of amber on display in a locked case, that had insects in that were a darker colour.

I hope you're sitting down. DT and Jess are on as I speak. (Well, write). You would NEVER believe it would you?? ;)

Zambian emeralds. All untreated, said he. Oiling obviously isn't a treatment is it? And there's talk of 'the stones they are showing' being "priceless", as suggested by Jess and agreed to by DT.

And, the phone lines have crashed too. (Probably from all the complaints of the dynamic duo's antics). Seems, as I've written that, the phones are back on.

It's not just you. I have the exact same feeling.
