I have never shopped with TJC but did get the email that looked like it came from Ideal World with no mention about the change of owernership.

Well there isn't a change of ownership, it's just TJC bought the name to use, so it's TJC who are sending out the emails. They may end up setting up subsidiary called Ideal World ltd, but it's still TJC in all but the name.

But anyway, might be reading it wrong but under the rules on the Goverment's Insolvency web site you should have been contacted by TJC about your personal details being bought by them.

"Where a business is insolvent the DPA will not prevent the sale of a database containing the details of individual customers, clients or suppliers providing certain requirements are met. The official receiver must draw the potential buyer's attention to their obligations as a data controller under the DPA when purchasing personal data."

"The buyer of the database is required to make sure that all the affected individuals are told who now holds their personal data (the new data controller). This should be done as soon as practicable, giving contact details for the new data controller and confirming that the personal data will only be used for similar purposes. If the buyer wants to use the data in a new way then this will also provide an opportunity to ask individuals for their consent."

Are these emails going out to TJC customers or/and former IW customers? (be interesting to know if any IW only customers and people who never gave their details to TJC are being emailsed). There are data protection rules that exists for companies that go into insolvency and the use of the insolvent company's customer data base.
People may have given IW consent to use the personal details in certain ways (IW's privacy & data protection policies would detail that) when they signed up to IW, but that doesn't mean that a totally separate company can just buy those customer details off the administrator and start using those customer details to start emailing them with marketing guff.
It could well be what has happened....
 
Genuinely.. It really does make you nauseous. And what about all that rattan furniture they sold? Do you come to them if you subsequently have any problems post purchase with either that, or anything else they sold over the last few days of trading? Or is your only come back having to seek out the manufacturer which certainly isn't easy.
 
It's clearly some sort of merry-go-round for them. As a collective, none of them appear to have any sense of responsibility for the customer. And particularly any customer from a channel that closed down that they used to work on who didn't receive their goods. Or who subsequently has problems with those goods. It's all about them, and not about anything else on the face of it. Shame on them all.
 
It leaves you in no doubt these people have no respect for customers,or the job that they do.
They are the front of the company so must take some responsibility for their actions.
And jump from one channel to another,the Rattan Furniture was particularly disgusting, leaving behind problems for customers.
How many versions now of IW ?
The email was sickening and fronted by a person who should hang their heads in shame.
Nevermind they think everyone is a mug,and will swallow this bull S**t😟

Sadly, the selly telly fanboys/girls fall for it. All the guff about family, friendship, fun etc. I suppose whatever floats your boat, if people out there are looking forward to its return fair play to them ('them' being the viewers.)

It genuinely won't surprise me if the Shop Extra four end up back there, assuming TJC management want them that is. However as has been touched on, perhaps it's existing TJC presenters taking up the bulk of the presenting work?
