The clue is in the username
We are all guilty of it (well most of us, shouldn't assume as we all know what that is!), of 'gently' (though sometimes not that gently), 'Q baiting', but I wonder what these people are like in the 'real world', away from QVC, away from public events etc. I mean surely they can't be as nauseating and infuriating as they are on screen.

As anyone ever met any of them, I know some people may have met them at a 'beauty bash' and that I suppose is as 'real' as they will be for most, but it just makes me wonder exactly what they are like as people!

I hope I have not tugged at anyone 'guilt strings' as I know I am as guilty as anyone else with regards to 'gently' (well not too gently I know), 'Q baiting'!

I wonder if it's an on screen persona, or is girly wirly Claire Sutton really like that off screen, talking like a four year old, obviously it's none of my business if she does or not, but kids must get confused though, hearing a middle aged woman talking like a child.

Or does Chloe Everton go round answering her own question, why? just wondering.
Fibby Flint stands in Sainsburys demanding people buy two, three or four?
Chuntley undoubtedly will go round on her days off bestowing the virtues of QVC
Alison young will be looking the wrong way when talking to you, only referring QVC products
And yes..........Sarah G will carry her iPad round with her constantly looking at it and interrupting people, they all do that.

Just added Sarah G and her iPad, she does love that iPad.

Not quite 'in the spirit' of the musing, but I do admit I found your response funny :)

Wonder if they ask for an item in a colour the shop haven't got!

Ah no be fair, the colour will be the correct one it is just that on Q the colours are so random, that the presenters are going to be 'shocked' when the name of the colour actually matches up with the colour of the garment. I mean lets face it how many times have we the poor viewers been left scratching our heads (metaphorically), because of some weird colour name that you have to ask for in order to get the actual colour that you want (of course assuming that you are actually going to make a purchase at all :))

I think all of us are a little different at work than we are at home and around our friends and family. If you work in a public facing role then you certainly have to put on a bit of a persona, even if you do it without realising it.

I'm quite new to this board & I'll be honest I can't understand the personal comments aimed at the presenters.
I can understand a bit of gentle ribbing about Jill Franks - "I use everything, a dozen different brands of shower gel".

I've always wanted to post this, but it I was worried it sounded too personal.
Alison Young has quite bad bags under her eyes & she must have tried everything that Q do & more, she still can't cover them up. Does that mean there is no miracle make up out there!!!

Anyway I kinda like them all, but I'm new so what do I know. There is one whose accent I don't like, she's a younger one.

I especially like Debbie flint & Julia Roberts - and Alison young.

AY has an underactive thyroid and eye bags are a mean and nasty symptom (fluid retention), no matter how long supplementary medication has been taken. That's why some days she looks good health wise and others she doesn't, synthetic medication can only do so much and there will always be a deficit so optimum health is never returned. The only way to eradicate eye bags with this cause is for doctors to prescribe meds a little bit higher than the blood test recommendation shows, as these meds speed up the heart rate docs won't go there, even though a patient is symptomatic.

I accept the thyroid effect but she'd have more credibility if she explained on air that there are some things products can't remedy.

I think outside of QVC you would mostly see Ali Young in jeans either mucking out horses or training them or riding them... or walking her dogs. Outside of QVC she seems to enjoy her animals and also loves her snowboarding holidays - which suggests to me she's a very active person and enjoys doing challenging and exciting things. Like one or two others QVC isn't her be-all and end-all... once she's off screen she goes back to being herself.... so yes, a bit of a witch, and bossy, but also with a sense of humour, especially against herself. I think besides the beauty-speak, you do get a real sense of Alison at times.

Ali Young is one of the fairly small handful of QVC presenters who can laugh at themselves: Anne Dawson, Jilly Halliday, Ali Keenan, Marv. I also suspect they are the ones who are not totally different when not on screen.

Sadly, most of the others are putting it on when they make fun of themselves, in my view... I think mostly they would have a sense of humour failure when not in front of the cameras.

The presenters who I suspect are least like what we see on camera once the bright lights are switched off? Julia Roberts and Debbie Flint.

Yes we are different at work in as much that we are professionl to clients/customers/public and at home we are casual. We eat whilst talking, we ignore people, we futter on our phones, we act as if family members are stupid but would never ever dream of doing this at work but the Q presenters do them all the time. I want them to treat me with the respect due to a paying customer not as their teenage sons friend who is in their kitchen every day of the week and is part of the furniture.

Yes - they are a visitor in our living rooms to sell us stuff. If it was your best mate, or aunty Vi come round for a cuppa and a chinwag, yes, that's different... but a sales person (yes, I'm classing both presenter and guest as sales people) should be presenting themselves professionally as their demeanour can determine whether or not we want to buy. The guest is representing the brand on sale during the hour, but the presenter is representing QVC as a brand. If they are casual, rude, slapdash and unprofessional... that's what we think of QVC. It's time they realised that!!!

I know things affect us all different, but I've had an under active Thyroid for about ten years, I've taken Thyroxine for the same amount of time and I don't have bags, so it proves that all these lotions and potions that you need to remortgage for do not work, all I use is a moisturiser and (ahem! if I say so myself) I have no lines and lovely skin (not down to genes because my mother had horrible skin)

With reference to the eye bags and AY. She does not help with the landing stripes of highlighter and three inches of black eyeliner. In fact for some who insists she is a trained make up artist:mysmilie_15:. She should know that a paler concealer in the dip of the eye and a deeper on the actual eye bag are what make up artists do to disguise them. Light brings forward and deeper pulls back. Been done on actresses for years.

All very interesting. I met Tova a few years ago on a cruise ship, she was lovely doesn't really speak the same as she does on QVC very down to earth in fact. She never walked by anyone who wanted to chat, dressed down during the day wore very nice gym type outfits. We were next to each other having a manicure and she chatted away for the whole hour. She also remembered my name when we next saw each other.

Say Ali K on a BA flight she is so tiny and acted a bit like a superstar! The cabin crew made a bit of a fuss over her. One of the, was saying how much she liked Dimoneeeek. Ali said yes it's very nice cut glass. Think the girl was miffed as she was saying how beautiful it was.

That explains it then! I was loosing faith in make up lol
I actually have an under active thyroid gland but only 50g per day of tablets, so only a little.
As I'm only a marginal case I wasn't aware of symptoms other than tiredness & weight.
And yes I did notice some days she looks better.

Some get any of the above. Also thinning hair is a classic side effect, which AY does not have.
