Hideous Tiana B dress

Help Support ShoppingTelly:

What people choose to wear is down to them and their own personal taste. I'm not sure what relevance it would be to anyone for me to sound off about what I do and don't like.

Kim, you've missed the point completely. This is an internet discussion forum. It's what internet forums do - discuss and sound off.

I'm not saying I don't criticise people' opinions or find them amusing or whatever, but I don't suggest they shouldn't post them, or that if they do post them they are somehow inferior / unwise / inappropriate. If we didn't have and exchange opinions we'd have no review sites and very little discussion.

But... there's a world of difference between commenting on the fashion and going further and being judgemental about the customers who buy said items.

Should people really be ridiculed on a shopping telly forum for buying a dress sold by a shopping channel? Really?

That's my point too; the "freedom of speech" defense is always cited, but ridiculing a dress can have the same effect, in limiting others who might want to discuss the item or the clothing range but feel they might be made fun of if they do. So I'm as much against this indirect censorship as any other.

Akimbo, I wish I could read the legend on your avatar, but no matter how much I squint, I can't. Please put me out of my misery, and tell me what the cat is saying! Thank you!

Here this might help, the photo should enlarge when you click on it.

If only QVC staff were this cute I'd spend a fortune! :mysmilie_59:

Good grief here we go again. This is a shoppingtelly forum not the Grand Jury. If people cant express an opinion for fear of upsetting someone then I don't see the point in being a member. I wear what I like and if I don't like something I say so and If others disagree they have every right to their opinion.

Exactly, Betty. I don't know what some people get so high and mighty about! If someone wants to wear a ridiculous Tiana B dress with a hideous Butler and Wilson spider / skull brooch, some Ugg boots and a Lulu Guinness handbag, let them!

At least you noticed me Julius! :mysmilie_12:

Look at the TSV today.I bet it will be snapped up good shape but those patterns oh dear ..........

What about us boring non pattern loving people.

Just to put some sort of balance in this thread, I wear my Kim & Co tops, though I don't like the TSV and I'd never pay the prices QVC are demanding - I've just bought a Landsend coat on a sale for less than some of her tops. But if you don't like them, you're quite entitled to say so and I won't be in the least bit offended or think you're getting at me personally - it's a matter of opinion. I might respond in kind, but that's my choice. You might not like everything I wear, I might not like everything you wear, but let's for gods' sake be reasonable about everything. You don't have to mock everything I like, but if that's your choice you can do so though I don't have to take umbrage if you do. I can choose to think you're being silly rather than making a personal attack on me - or I can choose to take umbrage. Why does everyone have to either wind everyone else up or get on their high horse? It's a matter of taste - yours and mine. I hate some things and say so, but I'm not getting at anyone in particular, I just happen to think that particular item is horrible/overpriced/tat/whatever and will continue to say so. If it's your choice to wear it and you're comfortable wearing it, ride above the people you think are getting at you. They may not be, so step back and think a bit.

There seems to be 2 levels of offense on here and yes....some balance is good.

Ok let me say it this way. To effectively say "how dare you express an opinion about something I like" is OTT. Just as to effectively say "what idiot with no taste would ever buy this hideous offering" is offensive and ****** rude. Learn some manners perhaps?

I am quite happy for people to dislike my clothes, to me it is indicative of their bad taste and unfortunate body shape as clearly I look good and they look crap in it ;) (kidding)

As for price...it's only overpriced if the person does not wear it and therefore gets no VFM out of the item.

I wear my KIm &co tops too, but why can she not have one plain top among the TSV .I like the shape and neckline but not the patterns.

Well said both Thatu and Westhergirl.

Conversely, when someone who's style you think is old fashioned, says something is nice on you you tend to think Oh no. Just like when as a teenager if your mum liked something who automatically rejected it.

It's nice for those who are happy with their body shape but I'm afraid I'm not one of them which is unfortunate as I love styles I can't get away with.
