I'm on a diet so haven't ordered goodies from there, but when I reach my goalweight, I will!!! Self-bribery.'Til then, I'm window-shopping. Americansweets.co.uk. Goodies from US/Japan/Asia/Australia/NewZealand/EU too. Sparkles26, give the peaches a try, maybe with chicken. For your 2month anniversary. lol Great on stuffing too, no such thing as too-dry meat. Gosh, food evokes such mmm-memories! x Snarly

I only read the 1st post when it appeared, and as I don't know who Alexis is, I didn't read any more.

Now I find there are 182 posts! What have I missed? Are they all about criticisms of Alexis? Is it worth me starting again to read them all?

It stared out as being about Alexis (L'Occitane rep), moved on to Julia and finished being about local pronounciations and delicacies. Well worth the read!

I will try to summarise for you Strato.

Julia is wearing a short sparkly dress. From this we quickly move on to talk about "baps". Some baps are barms, others are muffins. Or teacakes. But not with currants in. Some muffins have oven bottoms. Baps can be butties. Or cobs which are sometimes crusty. In Lancashire, a mixture isn't a mixture of things, it's a Separate Thing. You can eat it with your teets in or out. In chip shops in Lancashire, they sell scallops which are not fish. This is very confusing.

Pickles is having a chip butty for her tea.
Jude's children speak two languages.

I give up.

Not in this thread as far as I know Strato, but you know Min, she gets in everywhere!

BTW was it you asking about Tim Goodman some while back? My Dad happened to mention this morning that he'd seen him on the Argos channel - just thought I'd drop that in while I was on!

That was an excellent summary  :clapping:

I've only just discovered (yesterday in fact, while flicking through channels) that Argos is now on Freeview, channel 56 on mine.

I will look out for Tim Goodwin.

A lad I went to school with has the surname Almond and even he pronounced it Olmond. I don't get why the 'l' is there if you don't say it. It's no wonder they reckon English to be the hardest language to learn :D

There used to be one fish and chip shop MANY years ago which sold what I was told were called "Yorkshire fishcakes".

These were a sandwich of 2 slices from a very large potato with grated fish in between, then battered and fried.

Delicious, but I've never seen them anywhere else, or since that time.

PS I see what you mean now by going off the original topic lol.
