Only because I didn't want to quote your whole post, but I agree. (Not that I do have a sensible approace ;) ) but many places say if you eat 5 colours a day, you have a balanced diet.
"Eat the rainbow" + "A little of what you fancy does you good" = contentment

Steve's Ultra-Processed Worms + Pills with Fillers = joyless existence

Last night - Hattie - flogging pearls. Throughout the entire hour she repeatedly said "These are completely natural"

On screen graphic treatment: "Bleached".

These things are happening far too often now to be 'mistakes'. It's blatant misleading over and over again.

Reported.

If the ASA don't take action now, I'm escalating it to OFCOM, stating that I do not believe that the ASA are fit for purpose.

That was the multi coloured ones? I saw the white were bleached in the drop down details. I wanted to see how 'natural' they were. And sometimes the drop down is easier :p

Her mouth was probably in it's normal state of overdrive - I don't think she has a clue what she's saying half the time, so long as she's talking (screeching) at the viewers. She just talks tosh to fill up the time. Giving accurate information to viewers is now a thing of the past - I wonder what happened to the changes Steve was going to make, all the viewers comments he was going to take on board? Seems they fell by the wayside.

Hattie likes to tell us that she's the only diamond grader at Gemporia, she says she always tells the truth about diamonds etc etc. Yet she can easily sell grade I3 diamonds (the worst) saying they're beautiful eye clean sparkling treasures. If you Google I3 they say only dubious sellers sell them 🤔

Anyone else see Adina on now flogging Paraiba tourmaline. She said twice “natural “ Paraiba with no heat treatment. That’s not what it said on the details where it said H. They just can’t help themselves.

They have their place. If they want to stick them in a £10 or £20 piece, that's fine.

They shouldn't be anywhere near gold pieces of jewellery though.

They are in pieces up to £1500

What time was this please? I shall report this to the ASA. They're already on a final warning over treatments.

Finally, the ASA are showing their teeth at last (probably because they're sick of me by now!).

PART ONE:

You may recall that I reported Gemporia to the ASA for using the misleading name 'Ruby Quartz'. The ASA agreed that this name is misleading because the stone is not Ruby nor does it have any Ruby content. Gemporia have now been notified that they cannot use this name in the future. All future sales of this stone will have to specify that it is red coloured Quartz.
.........
As a result of this, the ASA have today informed me of the following:

"If the advertisers (Gemporia) don’t co-operate with us on this matter in the future and adhere to our instruction, subject to assessment, we will now be in a position to consider more formal action and investigation that involves the ASA Council."

So, despite Gemporia being told NOT to show 'Ruby Quartz' again, it has appeared on-air again today.

They have clearly broken the ASA's instruction - and, therefore, I have reported them again just now.

As they're already on a final warning, this should surely result in a fine and/or broadcasting suspension now! If it doesn't, I'm going to make a formal complaint with OFCOM.

To give Gemporia their due, at least they didn't hang about in shooting themselves in their foot.

Absolutely.

What is that stone then if not ruby quartz.

Its quartz that is dyed to look like a ruby - the treatments are clearly listed and the price tells you its not a ruby, I really don't know what all the pearl clutching is for ;)

I genuinely don't believe that they will ever feel any guilt in misleading and I don't think they will stop voluntarily. They'll change enough to just stay within their lalest warning.

I don't think they'll actually stop misleading for good until they actually get a punishment that hits them financially - such as a few hours suspension from broadcasting.
Agreed. Just like them all.

I reported Gemporia to the ASA last year after Adina constantly price compared a dyed blue Opal to untreated Opal. She kept referring to both as RARE. Not once did she mention that her stone was dyed.

I've not watched them for a while now, since the last time I commented on here.

This evening,15th May, whilst watching, I heard Adina selling a blue agate necklace & nearly spat my coffee out.

At roughly 6:45 pm, give or take a few minutes, she described the clarity of said necklace as:

"Paraiba grade in terms of the "cleanness" of the stone".

Followed several minutes later by her stating that she'd be selling "rare blue Baltic Amber" tomorrow.

Yep she really did say "cleanness" & compared it to "Paraiba grade."

I personally find this bang out of order & will submit an online complaint to the ASA tomorrow. Sure she didn't say Paraiba tourmaline, but I think it's obvious viewers will automatically presume that's what she's referring to. Otherwise just saying "Paraiba" makes no sense. Also using the word "grade" implies some cheap dyed blue agate is on a par with clean graded Paraiba tourmaline.

The necklace is currently on pre order & I've just seen that it is indeed dyed. No surprises there.

I think Adina must've gone to the same shopping tv selling school as Peter Simon.

To me, she also plays up the ditsy style of selling. Shouting random major retailer/manufacturer & brand names, implying that the relative toot she's selling is on a par with theirs.

Then after shouting these randomly, she starts giggling, eyes widen, appearing to be in disbelief at the price we're getting what she's flogging for. Then rambles, words getting faster, sometines followed by gulping, coughing with the frenzy of it all.

I know others do similar on shopping TV, but she's one of the most nonsensical & OTT I've seen.

It makes me so sad & angry that people are being sold to like this. I bet there's people who really believe that they're buying "rare investment" pieces. Some may be spending a lot, thinking they're passing on appreciating assets to their loved ones. I wonder how many elderly people think they're buying this stuff as a valuable side hustle? I truly dread to think.

I saw her introduce that at the top of the hour when she started her shift. If you don't know already, comparing 'cheap' for 'expensive' really bugs the heck out of me. Anyhoo, I didn't see any prices, but the second I saw it round her neck I thought, dyed. Nice style, nice colour, nice stone: I like agates, but a blind person would see it was dyed, it was that obvious.

I think Jess also did that with Afghan Lapis earrings. Raved about it's colour and location, but it was too blue. Yes, you guessed: it was also dyed. Again, I liked the shape and it's another stone I like, but natural. And I have some dyed stones too. But they are subtle, or obviously coloured: for example a neon pink agate.
