Foundation

I was in my local Sainsburys earlier and noticed that the 'Rimmel Perfect Match' Foundation was on offer from £6.99 to £4.99, so I thought I would try it as it's one of the brands my friend has recently read about that a beauty blogger she follows has recommended. I am very pale but I did think 'Light Porcelain' was very light indeed and with summer coming in now and I'm going on holiday next month, I thought I would get '100 Ivory'.

And speaking of foundations, has anyone gone with the BPOTM?

I use Laura G B&B quite a lot but I have a spare one to start shortly so I am dithering. The gain is the bag and the tiny compact. Not a bit advantage really.

I hate my face thick with foundation as it just rolls off in the humidity here in Malaysia. When I was back home I picked up cc cream in Aldi think it was just £4 and am loving it. It looks dark but it blends into the skin and gives a nice natural look and it stays on.it also has an sp factor in it as well. Well worth the money.

Reminded by Miss Molly on the Wen TSV thread about Avon products, I can recommend this product http://avonshop.co.uk/shop/product.asp?pf_id=37831&from=search&find_spec=anew&pagenum=4 (currently £7). It's a product they've done for years in different packaging but if time is short or you just want a boost without a full face of slap this works well for me. As it dispenses it's a pale liquid that changes colour as you apply it. It has spf20 (so don't get it in your eyes) and goes a slightly different colour on different skintones (I've even put it on DH when he won't wear sunscreen). It gives me a slightly tanned healthy look (not oompa loompa orange).

Avon foundations are pretty good too and they have a good MBG, you can return used products that don't suit for up to 90 days for a refund (send it back signed for as Avon customer service is a bit hit and miss). Once you settle on the right colour-match you can try all different textures and the colours are consistent across the range. Sadly there are very few avon ladies doing the rounds, and fewer of those carry a full set of colour samples. If you order from their website you can get 10% cashback thru Quidco and ofcourse there are always special offers so I rarely pay the full rrp for their stuff.

Thanks for this. I have just placed an order for the Anew Reversalist Sheer Tint Moisturiser as it sounds great.

I agree that Avon foundations are generally good. I have tried many brands over the years at £20/£30 and never found one I love, or would repeat purchase. I can usually go back to Avon, although I do sometimes have a problem getting the right colour.

Thanks All for the positive comments - I asked him to check with the manager (I knew her), using her name and giving her direct number and he backed off.

Yes, very annoying - he was a young bloke who said nothing to the teenagers next to me applying their daily makeup (yep, happens in my local Boots, too) while making a huge mess and opening non-testers, but he was obviously trying to impress them and wasn't bothered about bothering an older customer sampling in order to buy.
