I saw that game too Miss M - reminded me of the "Emperor's New Clothes", tell 'em they are there and they'll believe you. Maddest game I've seen for a long time. They all sold! No wonder we get ripped off when we just lay back and give 'em our wallets for nought. <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D7%252F7%255F15%255F5v%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_15_5v.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D7%252F7_15_5v%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

Just happened to glance at Gems this morning. Scott was presenting and the very first thing he showed was a tanzanite half eternity ring whcich he seemed to be implying was a cheap alternative to white diamonds. Of course that may have been my interpretation given that, IMAO, that was what the tanzanite looked like - not a trace of colour that I could detect on my large flat-screen TV!
I went to my computer for an alternative view - sure enough the live feed showed colourless tanzanite but the accompanying photo showed bluer than blue stones - just as I noticed in MissMagpie's screen shot.
IMAO the photos on the website are either different items or they have been photoshopped beyond recognition. In either case I think they verge on the fraudulently deceptive.

I saw this first thing this morning as well, it was a little stacker ring. Scott even showed what it would look like if you bought two and wore them together - yup, you've guessed it, no visible colour whatsoever. I don't think I've ever seen such awful tanzanite, whatever are they up to at Gems these days?

I'm surprised someone at Gems didn't come up with a fancy name for it ......
Imperial Glacier Tanzanite, maybe! :54:

I have to say that TJC does much better tanzanite than Gems at the less expensive price points, even the tanzanite in their cheap and cheerful silver rings have more colour than Gems cheaper tanzanite. Having said that I got a lovely 3 carat solitaire and very pretty tanzanite/diamond sort of snowflake design, both 18 carat rings, from Gems a couple of years ago - my most expensive rings and I love them both. The designs were more imaginative than the Iliana range.

But that was in the days when Steve wotsisname was manager and used to come on air and regularly insult TJC, he used to be hilarious! Wonder what he's doing now?

Was it shaped anything like this one Lucky Lady.......?

I too have had a couple of beautiful tanzanite rings from Gems about 2 years ago - one was well under £100, one around £100, both in 9K y gold. They were certainly not AAAA or even AAA quality but they have a lovely colour for all that: at the price I didn't expect the sort of tanzy that goes for £1000s (if only).

However my point is, like so many on here, I'm mourning the fall of a once great company. Such a shame that their standards have fallen so far.

i bought a aquamarine ring last year it was colourless no colour at all
i like the square setting so took it to jewerller to have another stone put in
when i picked my ring up the jeweller was unable to give me the stone back as it
"CRACKED IN HALF "
cheap stones i think
beware

There's no such thing. An Aquamarine (regardless of it's price or colour) has a hardness of 7.5 on the MOHS scale and as part of the Beryl family, it wears reasonably well with typically no or few inclusions.

For a stone to crack in half, your jeweller was either lacking in skill when setting (most probable) or the stone had a serious crack to begin with - which you would have seen so unlikely. If the stone did have a crack to begin with then your jeweller was negligent in even touching it. I'm afraid you can't blame GemsTV for this one.

Sacha I don't think GemsTV ever set the Wobito snowflakes. I think they were loose and I'm pretty sure there were only 2 of them and I know where they both are!!!!! Happy to stand corrected though as memories can play tricks!

So do I..........:giggle:

I was just wondering about the Tanzy ring LL refered to as being 'a sort of snowflake design'. It sounded rather different
and a little bit intriguing!
