We're all ill here too, colds continually. Hope Morgan improves soon, it's awful when they're ill, when mine are ill I'd far rather it was me! (and it usually is!) 9 months is a handful! Thankfully my daughter is still at the looking cute and cooing stage, whereas the mad five year old is a bundle of energy and cheekiness - when he goes to school/grandma's we all breathe a sigh of relief, much as we love him!

My daughter has her final immunisations this afternoon, am so relieved!

Thank you x Hope you all feel better soon
Jabs I hated those. Morgan would smile at the nurse then get pricked, burst into tears and look at me as if to say ... "but I smiled at her!"
Hurts us more xxx

Ah ha.....found pics of my two rainbow Sapphire rings and also one from QVC.....Blackhills by Coleman, sadly they've stopped selling this range now! The one on the left is much bigger irl, its quite a wide, weighty ring.

Your Asscher cut Diamond ring sounds wonderful Frazzled.

Snap. We always had the same gems tv taste. I got a size K. I was so happy as I'd wanted a rainbow piece for years. Would you believe I've worn it once lol Won't part with it though.

Gosh I'm photo happy this week. To be honest these bling threads are really cheering me up and making me remember what I have and how lucky I am. As I've been moaning about being made redundant and being skint lol Mind you I spend more time in the babies section in next than in bling places these days and I wouldn't change that for the world x
More pics ladies x

Didn't get back on last night, baby girl struggled a bit with her imms. Love the lovely Calpol!

Anyway, here are more pics Gemcherub! I'm running out now though (reminder to self: must buy more jewellery...) I'm no Mario Testino and my pearls haven't come out brilliantly, they are utterly flawless. Bought them from Aminoff London. Never seen better pearls and we used to have Mikimoto at the jewellers I worked for, these were better than many of those IMHO. Would love to do the GIA pearl grading course at some point. The other is my eternity ring, the one I keep threatening to sell.

Where did Gemcherub and Sacha get their rainbow sapphires btw? Are they still available or have prices risen to make them no longer a serious proposition? Never bought from a gem channel, only ever shopped with QVC!

Gemcherub have you thought of becoming a jeweller (if you weren't one before that is!)? Bet Cirrus would employ you like a shot! PS: You're not redundant, you're Morgan's mum x

I would love to work with jewellery but nobody will give me a shot because I don't have any jewellery qualifications and there is no way I'm ever going back to education lol
Drives me mad some of the ladies in the jewellery shops in Birmingham are clueless! I ask every time I'm in cirrus but no joy, they are all qualified with years in the trade. Newbies are not welcome :(
Sorry bubs was a bit poorly last night. x
Lovely pearls x

Hi AD, we got our rainbow sapphire pieces a few years ago from GemsTV. We'd heard that they would be introducing this new range.....I think it may have been bought in?......and then suddenly they uploaded everything on the website one afternoon. I'd been out shopping and missed the start of the buying frenzy but thank's to Cherub's post on here, as a heads up, I shot over to Gems website and picked out a couple of pieces....to start!

A chap based in Thailand had seen our interest in rainbow sapphires and started posting on here and eventually had his own section also. Forgotten his name but he was from BKK Gemstones and later some FM's bought directly from him on a made to order basis. He made me a pair of semi hoop earrings to match the pendants I got from Gems.

Just found the website but looks like its based in New York. If I've got any of the facts wrong, I'm sure Cherub will be able to correct them.

I must admit I get cross in jewellers at times. I don't profess to know everything, far from it, but the misinformation out there is huge, especially around diamonds. It's always a worry when you ask about the cut grade and they answer that it's a round brilliant! No understanding of polish, symmetry etc. Another jeweller in Hatton Garden that I really rate is Raphael, Geoffrey and his daughter Hannah. I saw a ring in the window once and went in to ask if I could see it. I was really honest and told them I wasn't going to buy it, it was around £15,000! It was a midweek morning, shop was dead, they said no probs come in, I said I'll go if you get busy! They were lovely people, told them I worked for a diamond merchant years ago, they brought a load of stones out and challenged me to grade them! Great fun! They were the ones who told me I'm better with colour than clarity, apparantly I could tell an upper H from a lower G. Clarity I struggle with, a triple excellent cut can really fool me, seen a couple of those, one with Cirrus I think. Hannah had worked for the GIA in the States for two years so I guess she can be considered something of an authority!

I'd love to learn more about jewellery, when funds allow, I'd love to do the GIA pearl and diamond grading courses, trouble is, I could get a good piece of bling for the price of their courses! Plus I was in education for far too many years and now have a recurring anxiety dream about getting an essay on Tudor history in late. Tudor history has to be the most boring course I ever took, so goodness knows why I get so stressed about it in my dreams ha ha ha!

This is my engagement ring and has been for 18 years. I love the blue colour.

Hi everyone,
Loving all the splendid rings. I think the cross over rainbow ring are gorgeous. I have never ever seen anything like them in person.

My pics are too big to insert. Have had daughter reduce, but still no luck.

Anyway, engagement ring is a burmese sapphire with two small diamonds each side. The colour of the sapphire is so blue, not too dark or light. Have worn it happily for over 18 years.

Thanks Frazzled. I am chuffed I can post my pics now. I love all kinds of stones: tanzanite, red spinel, aquamarines, pink tourmalines and emeralds but somehow I always come back to sapphires. The intense blue draws me in and the combination with diamonds is sublime.

Any more engagement rings to peruse?

I had an arty friend who had a huge, deep coloured amethyst as a solitaire for an engagement ring. It was so striking and unusual.

Thanks rosielinks :hi:. That ring goes really well with your wedding ring iykwim! I just got my first sapphires late last year & find them mesmeric.

One thing I really love about wedding jewellery is how it can often date a marriage! I see lots of women of around 50 wearing a cluster of diamonds round a sapphire & know that they were engaged between the early eighties and nineties, when Diana's (now Kate's!) ring defined what an engagement ring was. I remember loads of my friends' fathers having really wide gold wedding rings cos that was the fashion in the early-mid seventies. My grandmothers generation all had thin gold bands, I remember my Gram telling me that often one ring was sliced to make two or three thinner ones, especially in wartime or in the depression. I was at a baby group this week & observed (cos I'm nosey!) that 90% of the women there have small brilliant solitaires in platinum, virtually identical. That'll be what dates them to a marriage in the noughties!

you are so right ArtDeco. I have diamond solitaire in platinum and married in 2008. You are only half right with my mum though who has proudly announced, jokingly of course, since 1981 that Lady Di copied HER engagement ring... a large oval sapphire surrounded with diamonds. She married in 1972 and had a wide gold wedding ring.

You are right Weathergirl I got engaged in 1968 and went out with my hubby to be to get a sapphire and diamond cluster but got a diamond cluster instead. Don't know why I changed my mind I suppose I just saw it and loved it. Mind you sapphires are still my favourite stone. Two of my friends who got engaged at about the same time as me both had square sapphires surrounded by diamonds. I did get my Sapphire and diamond cluster later though and before Diana. lol

A friend at work (again in the late 60s) had the widest ring I've ever seen it must have been at least 3/4 of an inch. She was tall, slim and had the longest slimest fingers I've ever seen. My wedding ring was quite unusual at that time it was three colours of gold in a brick like pattern.

Will try to post some pics later.
