Ordered the tsv laptop on 1st november and received a letter from QVCs loss prevention specialist asking me to call.

i was told checks had been made and a CCJ on my file had been flagged up and unless i paid in full i was being refused easy pay.

Now this ccj is 4 years old and has not stopped me getting credit before, i have just done a new phone contract, bought a new car and have bought items on ideal world easy pay and not had problems until today with QVC. i have a debit card and credit card with my bank.

Anyone else had problems or is QVC suffering big losses offering easy pay?

I found the lady very rude and seemed to talk down to me because of this ccj.
I won't be using QVC again, not sure if to complain higher but this woman stated i had to pay in full.
Looking back i have ordered items in 2014 on easy pay and not had problems and paid in full, so why refuse now as ccj has been on my file 4 years?

I think thee was a thread about this topic before - QVC saying the easy pays are available without any checks but then delving into someone's credit history. Maybe someone could link it?

Of course they are going to credit check people! Do you actually think they would send out a laptop worth hundreds without first so doing?

They are covering themselves - nothing wrong with that. They feel because of your past they don't want to risk sending you the item without full payment and they are within their rights to do that.

It would only be interesting if they said that they do not credit check people when they actually do. I can't imagine them checking people for a cheap old pot of Lulu face gloop but a laptop worth hundreds....that'll be a different story!

The consumer credit act does not apply to easy pays-this is why they cannot offer more than 4 easy payments. I think that as with the so called "no questions asked money back guarantee" the presenters and on-air presentations are very misleading. The presenter (or on screen small print) should say "easy pays are subject to status" and in respect of the MBG should say "terms and conditions apply as to the number of returns made in a given period which may result in account closure". I have always thought that whilst QVC are entitled and right to protect themselves in this way they are failing in the transparency of their on air presentations.

I understand checking if the item was high value, but after paying first payment, i would owe approx £160 0ver 3 months. I have purchased on easy pay in 2014 and items cost more and there were no issues.
Now QVC don't want my custom unless i pay in full which i do not understand nor were they prepared to discus further, case closed, as i was told.
I have found item cheaper elsewhere, so QVCs loss.

I expect that they have tightened up their checking after having people default on them.

Does seem unfair to pick on you when you have a recent good track record with them, no bother getting credit elsewhere and the ccj is 4 years old now. But as you say their loss because you found it cheaper elsewhere.
I don't have an issue with Q protecting themselves but there is no need to be rude and off-hand with prospective customers.

the presenters do say no credit checks. i also thought if they had all your card details the bank had to pay the money
