i can't say i don't like them because there's nothing really to dislike but i certainly don't want one. i'd never pay 50 quid for a cloth bag. just looked at the tsv presentation and the huge main compartment doesn't even have a central partition. so any organising you do with that will be in the outside pockets. i can never find anything when bags have just one big section like that.

Whenever I hear t callers saying they have such a huge quantity of anything, be it bags or diamnonique etc, I feel kind of sad. I also think the presenters are both shocked and maybe horrified but of course, they cant say that. I now have 6 steam cleaners, 6 vacs etc. Down to cleaning obsession as much as tv shopping addiction, but I am trying to keep it in check. Its so easy to get caught up in buying, as so many t callers with their vast quantities are proof of.

just out of interest, who is responsible for your 6 vacs? you or qvc's hard sell?

Eugh think of all those monkeys staring at you.

I have four and only use two on a regular basis! The first thing I do is take those bloody monkeys off! How that woman can have 493, where does she store them?:mysmilie_506:

Tristar, that is a bit of an obsession you have going on there, if you don't mind me saying so. 6 hoovers and steam cleaners is a bit
much. Its actually a form of OCD and you can get help to stop it. Us women probably have it in handbags, toiletries etc, so we
all need to realise it and STOP immediately. Lecture over . sorry

I love handbags ... and shoes and jewellery ... but I cannot imagine owning 493 handbags. That's just bizarre. I think I've probably got about 30 and that's more than enough.

And the other thing. Why would you count them?? Once you past 10 or 15 they all blur a bit. I've said 30 but I've never counted them. It's very odd altogether.

Just had a count of mine, more than I thought: madelen, iwi, defea, fairfax small and large, hubei, katie and my latest the Adaia basic wool (got it 30% cheaper than qvc). I also have a few of my late mothers lurking about which I havent "dealt with" yet. Kipling are really well made and I think the problem is, they dont wear out and we are more likely to get bored with them before they show any signs of wear unlike other handbags, including leather ones I own and therefore we buy another one......

I surprised myself by buying my first one in TK Maxx a couple of weeks ago but it was only £25 including a wallet (which is too small for everyday) and I'd been looking for a handbag for a while. Been using it ever since as it is so light and is waterproof. It is carried across the cross body or on the shoulder. I'm taking it on holiday over Christmas as it will squash down in my cabin luggage.

janie, the TSV is a bad example of kipling. Its so big you could hardly carry it on your shoulder. They're not cloth, sort of material, and so light to carry, which is what i love. If im working a long day or night duty, i can carry all my meals etc. in a separate bag and then just shove the bag over my shoulder, and its not heavy, in comparison to my food he he. And i can always find my phone, make up, purse etc, so handy. But its all down to choice and lifestyle i'd say

I have 2 bags I use & there both ridged bags not the soft cloth sort , the everyday one i use is a small black over the body bag , about 4 years ago i had my bag snatched while i was in brum , now after that I would never use a bag that i couldn't put over my body

most of the kipling bags look to bulky to wear under a coat even if they can be worm over the body , i am cautious about taking a bag shopping with me now anyway so i like to use a small and cover the strap over with a coat so it cant be cut off

i seriously wouldn't cart a tablet or other device round in a bag because the lengths thieves will go to is unreal

Eugh think of all those monkeys staring at you.

First thing I do when I get a Kipling bag is remove the monkey, I just don't get them - I've got loads of the little beggars lurking in a cupboard! Don't know what to do with them, there are only so many I can give away to small nieces. You always see loads of the monkeys for sale on ebay and it mystifies me why anyone would want to buy one.

I have a Kipling laptop bag which is really good and has lasted well. I did not buy it from QVC.

I have a satchel type that has my netbook and gubbings in. It's fab. It's a dark fuchsia colour and despite being bunged in the boot of my car and on the office floor most working days for maybe a couple years it still looks good.

Kipling wouldn't be my every day handbag choice though but that's just a personal choice.

i think shopping like this can be a need of some sort. maybe loneliness etc. i think we are all guilty of something similar to this. at least you owned up to it tristar x

Loneliness is certainly caught up in my purchasing habits yes, I order more late at night for example. I did not hear the caller last night who had the 400 plus bags but I can empathise and understand to a certain extent, but least being aware helps you be more in control.

On subject of Kiplings, do any blokes carry them, other than Craig Rowe?? !!

i must admit my shopping habits have changed a lot over the years. i used to love shopping but over the last year or so i dont go out as much so tend to shop from home. but i try not to seduced as much as i used to be in paticularly with qvc. there is something seductive as to how the presenters talk to you as if they are your friends and you are buying from a special club. even the way that the call centre staff talk to you its all part of the experience.
then there is the customer events to really get loyalty. lol i do like qvc but i think we have to be mindfull of its charms

I think there are many reasons people buy things to excess. Some people have a form of OCD and its become a habit, others have something lacking in their life or personality, some people are just greedy and want want want and others are depressed, lonely or unhappy. I daresay a psychiatrist could mention quite a few more reasons. Whatever the reason, if I was buying umpteen of the same items or spending money to such extremes I think I`d be looking for help and damage limitation. Often people say oh well I can afford it and I don`t get into debt etc but that`s still avoiding the real crux of the matter ie. why am I buying 493 bags or 12 clocks or 64 eeek rings and so on ? I do think we`re always looking for the perfect lifestyle, the perfect look, the perfect home and the perfect skin/hair/nails but perfection doesn`t exist, its all a facade presented by shopping channels, magazines, reality TV programmes. We are an unsatisfied lot and we`re getting worse.

I must be the only one who does not understand the popularity of these awful bags.

I cannot either, they are light and do go across the body and have many compartments , but they are so expensive for what they are. There are so many alternatives to Kipling bags, and to me so many Kiplings look alike, so how can anyone justify having so many:eek:

Nope. Me neither

Ets - I can understand the practicality but they're not very attractive or glamorous! But that's just me. We all have different tastes. I like my bags to be a thing of beauty :D

Same sentiments here, I can well understand that if anyone likes them, maybe having a few in different styles and colour, but to tell the truth, unless you are a real collector , one cannot tell the difference between a lot of them in styles.

Your not alone , I dont like them either

I have one, and I find that useful for going window shopping and any time on a leisure walk, because it packs a lot, is light and it takes a lot of knocks, but I would not buy another.
My other half says it is a toiletry bag:sad: and to tell the truth, they are very much like one.
On top of it , I have one that was "made for QVC " a patterned one that "would have been £XYZ more in the stores but you cannot buy it, because it is specially made for us in QVC" and being so special, it was made with no pockets for the phone or pens , all the others have them...this fact was not informed by the presenters.
Like I have mentioned before, I did not send back items in those days, so I kept it. I take it on holidays, I usually pack lotions and such that might leak during the flight and it goes in my hold luggage, and then, I can use it on hols too.

I would question whether she has 493 or is just doing it for a bit of attention. I've been to hotels before and put down my occupation as Managing Director before - no-one knows/checks/cares if that is right so i have fun with it. A french hotel still thinks I work for NASA...

My other half, who is a bloke in case you were wondering, has two. One is a simple grey messenger bag and the other is a different colour grey old fashioned duffel bag. Once the monkey is removed they're pretty boring looking bags really. He uses the messenger bag to carry his netbook and stuff to work.

Hum, you could be right "Neil". I have to say, I was wondering just where you would store so many bags - you'd need a seperate room for them surely - imagining them all piled on the floor and wading through looking for that one that goes with etc etc - I couldn't cope - too much to look after

debbie flints on now in the kipling hour i can just imagine her saying to us viewers who can beat 490+ kipling bags.......I DARE HER lol
