I haven't seen any Centigrade for a while but the prices have doubled since I last watched. They're all basically anoraks and faux shearling coats and not so long ago you'd pay around the thirty quid mark.

Maybe we're paying for Glen's style advice although why he's there at all is beyond me. If it's the weather for a coat like that do we really care what we look like?

I don't know how i manage to dress myself in the morning without Glen's advice.

There are so many similar style coats around at the moment so im waiting a few days for the sales to start. Im sure i will find something similar but at a better price and perhaps with more style features - perhaps a belt??

I have my beady eye on one for £25 in the Next VIP sale. My slot is at 8.30pm and I'm going to bag it then.

Next coats are quite good IMO. And they have proper half price sales too.

Oooh, GoodLuck Flamenco! I ordered a Centigrade coat this morning (Clearance). It's a style I have already, just a SmallerSize. I love the style of it, disregarding what GuruGlen may say.

Not only are the prices up, the sizes are too. I quite liked the look of the TSV coat, but would need the XS size. It's a 42 inch chest. 42?? That's ridic. I know it's a coat that is slightly more generous of cut anyway, but that's just stupid. The last Centigrade coat I bought was from last clicks, it was a duffle coat and it cost me about £30 ish. That was XS and the chest measurement was 36...why is it so hard to get the sizing as consistent as possible?

Absolutely agree BW. XS is not catered for at all, They seem to think of a number between 33 and 40 and decide to call it XS.
Since when is 36 inc XS ? Its ridiculous.

Indeed! Luckily the coat from last clicks fits with a thick sweater on underneath and it's very good quality, but I think they do just make the XS sizes up as they go along. Not good for tiny peeps like me

Im really tempted by the TSV, dont buy clothes much from Q but fancy a new coat. So is the general opinion that Centigrade is larger fitting then? x

It depends on the style of coat, Latchi. I would always suggest you check the sizing really carefully and listen to the actual measurements rather than what Q give out as the standard. XS can go from anything between 34 and 44 inch chest in the range! I've got 4 coats from Centigrade and I've been very pleased with the quality, however, they wear very well and last.

I don't understand the sizing.....from measurements you'd think the s or m might be a size 16 yet they have a supposedly size 16 model in the xl and it looks nice and snug? Yet the measurements suggest a size 22!!

In my experience they come up extremely big. I have ordered in the past and they have had to go back everytime as they are far too big. I am 8-10 highstreet but i would say XS in centigrade is more like a 12 or 14.

I really like the TSV particularly the olive and purple. However my first impression was WOW those prices have gone up!!!

I'm not ordering the TSV as mainly I have no money lol.....but really I know in my heart of hearts I'll be disappointed.I know the size won't be right,I know it will look like a triangle sticking out at the bottom,I know it will feel to thin. For me,I have to try a coat on,before I buy.

I've recently bought my fourth anorak from Daxon online - and they have just started their sale. They are great quality - even the faux fur trim is lovely - very true to size, free returns, money off inducements for the first order, an account option if you don't want to pay in one go although interest accrues and, once you are a customer, you are offered regular discounts and free gifts.

They refer to anoraks as "parkas" if you are searching! Just avoid the "old lady" styles - although if you are looking for things for an old lady - eg zip fronted dresses, quilted housecoats etc - they've got those too.

Coat chest sizes are generally 6 inches more than usual clothing chest size and zips have no give in them unlike button fastening. Also depends on the cut and lining, measurements are based on outside the coat not inside so if it's a thick lining again you need to make allowance. Buying coats off the TV is not easy and the cost of postage makes it an expensive guessing game.

Forgot to add
Yes, I thought the prices had gone up as well.

That's a really good point KimP and QVC are rubbish at getting that sizing issue across. They don't explain if the coat is to fit a 36in chest or measures 36 and the two are completely different.

I can only comment about the shearling coats and mine has absolutely no stretch at all. The measurement given was the measurement of the coat itself from armpit to armpit when buttoned. I've always added five inches to my actual measurements to get a coat to fit but I'm always very warm so wouldn't need to get a thick jumoer underneath.

In theory a coat that measures 40in should fit a 34/35in chest.

I've ordered a couple of Centigrade coats in the past but both were huge and went back. The sleeves were way too long for me too.

Q don't do petite at all really though. Are we smaller girls more in the minority than XXL ladies are? Surely not.

QVC don't cater for any extreme in sizing, which is not surprising as they want to shift product and will concenrate on the sizes most of their viewers are.

XXL is not the extreme end of plus size, on QVC it's usually around 22. If a generous cut a 24 and for other ranges eg Ronni Nichol and Taylor Dresses barely a size 20. The average size is 16 so not catering regularly for a size 8 is no diferent from not catering regularly for a size 24. I'm interested in this as I have a friend who runs a shop that specializes in high end plus size clothing up to size 30 and her shop does very well as I imagine specialist shops catering for sizes 4/6 will.

I'm sort of at the other end of the scale at an 18/20. I'm also not short at 5 6". And I can shop pretty much anywhere. Maybe not in Miss Sixty or Top Shop but that's fair enough. I think if you're anything from a 12 to a 18 all shops cater for you. Anything smaller or bigger and it's not so easy.

I used to be bigger and that was tough at times. T shirts and basics were relatively easy but quality classic clothes were a nightmare.

As far as QVC goes I do think they cater for larger sizes but some if their ranges are useless for anyone over a 20. I can wear the top sizes in things like Kim n Co (dresses) and Tiana B but anyone bigger than me is going to struggle. Nina Leonard caters for larger than a 20 as does Antthony and probably Susan Graver and Attutudes for Renee.

I've no idea about petites but I'm guessing very few if any would suit. The only one that I would guess might is Michele Hope. Her tops are always short in the sieves and length it seems to me but that's a bit like Hobson's choice isn't it??
