I posted a parcel first class which would be collected at 2pm from our local post office and just after 10am the next morning my friend emailed to say it had arrived. It didn’t have very far to go but I was still quite impressed.

Maybe that’s where I went wrong. I whacked loads of stamps on the Jiffy bag, which more than covered the cost, and stuck it in the post box.

Just an update about the Royal Mail.

He eventually received the package at 5 p.m. this afternoon, so it was in transit for 9 days. Not bad for a package sent first class. :ROFLMAO:

I hope that yours has now arrived as well, lemonpop.

I sent a package to Yorkshire last Tuesday. It went via Royal Mail. They still haven’t received it. 😳 Maybe their workforce has been reduced in numbers if people are self isolating? It contained a present so I hope it gets there.

In our village half the RM post staff were off during lockdown.

Don’t tell strato!

Think I said this before? The local sorting office I was told is like Xmas with mail. RM are pushing the delivery of parcels over letters my postie still only comes three days a week to my area and is covering two routes. Though they seem to have restarted Saturday deliveries again.

Anything coming via Hermes etc is flying through

I have been really impressed with the delivery service during lockdown. I received parcels from Q in three days although the refund on returns was far too slow at nearly three weeks. My orders from Amazon came the next day and All the delivery companies were excellent. R.M./ DPD/ Hermes etc. Well done to all of them.

I agree. Hermes and Amazon have been brilliant with some items arriving before the expected date. The only issue has been when I’ve sent things to Yorkshire via Royal Mail. Out of the 5 packages, one arrived in 3 days and the others have taken between 6 and 9 days and all have had more than enough stamps on them to cover the postage cost. I’m sure it’s because postal services up there have been disrupted because of Covid and he’s confirmed this after speaking to his postman.

Yes I heard this .. even customer services has been taking ages to get through .. not sure if things calming down now ...although Covid not gone of course social distancing in doors is being more planned for

Just had an email from Amazon saying a parcel had been delivered and handed to customer. No it hadn`t. I was in the house and ironing and there was no knock on the door. Went outside to check for a parcel, no card through the letterbox telling me where it was, knocked on neighbour`s door to see if he`d left it there, checked all my bins and no sign of it. Went into back garden to check if he`d lobbed it over our very tall back gate, nope and was just about to contact Amazon when I saw the edge of a brown box poking out from some building rubble at the side of our driveway ( we`re having work done and the rubble is due to be loaded into a skip come Monday) and whoever delivered it had buried it under broken bricks, plaster and other rubble. Thankfully the parcel contained a box of drill bits hubby had ordered so couldn`t be damaged but I can`t say I`m happy and had I not been upstairs ironing I would have seen whoever it was and ask why he didn`t even bother knocking. This isn`t the first time they`ve simply dumped parcels and never knocked but luckily this is the only time I haven`t spotted them.

I had confirmation e-m I had signed for receipt of my parcel. Then why was it left behind a medium sized flowerpot near my front door?

I know and I can`t believe it myself but its as if they don`t even want to touch the door knocker let alone hand a parcel to you.

The ones who deliver my Amazon goods now ring the bell, stick the package on the doorstep and retreat at lightning speed. Sometimes they’re even so fast that they’re back in their vans. Luckily I live at the end of a small and very quiet cul-de-sac and so it would be unlikely that somebody would amble down the road to steal anything that was left out in the open, but you never know.

However, when I was out the other day, they used their initiative and found the safe place where my regular Hermes courier leaves parcels if I’m not in. He/she then put a note through the door which was a first for Amazon,

Having been totally out of the QVC loop I didn't know until yesterday that Ickle Claire had left. I can remember her talking about possible plans for her son to go to a specialist catering college & I suppose the application could be quite involved but nothing like the paperwork for an EHC plan which I'm sure they'd have had to have done by now. Maybe she just got bored with Groundhog Day at the Q & I can't say I blame her. My neighbour's bereft without her - her word, not mine!

My Hermes deliveries have been coming by 2 different people my normal lady for some and younger man for others these have been my heavier orders.

Just wondering with Clare away and Katherine on maternity and Chloe due to get married are they a couple of presenters down. God knows what sort of replacements they will come up with as the last couple of intakes have been bloody awful.
