Beauty Overload

I've noticed that when there is a beauty tsv, there is always an overload of programme showings. Today its Liz Earle, and there are 5 - FIVE HOURS of this throughout the day, same with Elemis, every other hour. Yes they clearly have a warehouse amount to shift, but its a turn off rather than a turn on.

Like Dyson, tagged on as 15 minutes at the end of some shows, there is an awful lot of product bombing going on.
 
I think that all the beauty shows, like Gatineau, Liz Earle, Decleor, Skin sense etc etc are mind numbingly boring. I don’t want to watch shows where all they do is stick creams or gels on the face before removing it and starting all over again because I know how to do that.

Other beauty shows where they focus on make up are slightly more tolerable.

With all the repetitive shows that are happening at the moment, I agree that QVC is like Groundhog Day. It suggests to me that they’re running out of brands to sell.
 
I fondly remember the huge variety of brands they used to stock.

The craft hours and craft days, with Dawn Bibby, Donna Dewberry and the lady from Plaid

The huge range of different jewellery, Black Hills, South Western Silver, Taxco Traditions, Kirks Folly, Chateau Argent, Lee Sands, etc, every range so very different.

Beautiful exotic gems.

QVC used to be vibrant and interesting, now it's just beige and boring.
 
I don't buy much any more from qvc because, as you say, it's always the same old, same old. Ruth Langsford and Frank Usher must be selling mega bucks worth of clothes. I've bought Ruth's jeans due to the tall size, but otherwise they are no different from other jeans. I'm not tempted by Frank Usher, and Nina Leonard and Kim are all polyester. I wash my face with soap and water and use Nivea face cream. I'm the odd woman out but I still watch qvc for its entertainment value, which is lessening recently.
 
I can't recall the last time I watched it live. I watched today's TSV on their website and closed it down before the first minute was up. It's beyond boring, using the same hard-sell claptrap. I do wonder how much longer their business model will last and they join the DHS stores that are closing down because of the switch to online shopping.

I imagine that's nearer the truth than not. Clearly brands can sell easily online without having to pay QVC what they ask - whether its a commission or a buy-in price. Perhaps that's why there is a proliferation of slebs fronting products - which are clearly QVC own brands like Bumbleberry and yes, even Ruth's bloody awful range. In fact, I wonder who fronts "Ruth's" clothing in the States ?

Yes, they do. I like to read their forum and usually have a look at their jewellery which compared to what we have is superior. I had a little look on our QVC for a simple silver bracelet not a friendship style, and they are all Diamonique. On QVC US loads of different brands just plain real silver bracelets.

As for their beauty, well 20 at least more brands than what we sell. The old workhorses as I think of them Elemis, Gatineau, Liz Earle and Decleor just seem to repeat the same products over and over and over again. Yes, we know beauty is the biggest seller on QVC UK, but bloody hell it is boring.
 
I started watching Q in 2005 while on long term sick leave. It took fully 3 months before I saw the same products that I’d seen when I’d first started watching.
The number of "departments" has dwindled. The number of brands has dropped. No wonder they are all on tight circulation. Worst is the tiny roster of products now. I you have seen one show for a brand you've pretty much no need to watch another, as it's the same products in a different order!
It used to be that a TSV beauty brand would have loads of different products to show on the different hours. That never happens any more.
Q are no doubt struggling. They only want "banker" products guaranteed to sell in large volumes... even the "new" products are frequently variations on an existing one. For example the latest fragrances cleansing balm from Elemis, and the umpteenth new scent for Philip Kingsley Elasticizer.
 
if they are selling so much beauty stuff i want to know where the buyers are going to make the effort that all these shows show...has the Q shopper got access to clubs, pubs and restaurants that are open on the sly...the other thing i hate is ..if you go to XYZs website this product on its own is £150...

QVC normal price is £100 but todays special value is 3 of these for £35 ..yes what a deal ps sorry this rant is in 2 parts
 
Just because people in lockdown does not mean they don't do their normal routines every day.

Cleanse, tone, serums, moisturizers, eye creams, neck creams and then the body products as many women shower every day.

A friend gets up every morning showers puts on a dress different one each day. Puts on her makeup and all she is doing apart from going to Tesco once a week is being at home. That is her thing at nearly 70.

I totally agree with QVC so-called pricing, and they have even admitted on their Facebook they never state they are the cheapest for any item they sell.

Why have these brands been withdrawn from sale here when they still are stocked over there? Used to love the different jewellery shows & bought lots.

US is huge has a much larger demographic than UK so they a bigger market

But because the QVC UK range is now so limited I'm spending a lot less though.

Almost every week I'd buy from one of the jewellery ranges because they were so different from the run of the mill and not overly expensive, now the jewellery is so anodyne and is quite expensive I haven't bought any from QVC for years.
 
I can appreciate that UK doesn’t have the numbers to introduce new jewellery ranges BUT if these ranges are already stock items in US how difficult is it to organise 3000 for US and 500 for UK, after all everything is from China so its just a matter of shipping them along with all the other stuff.
