True fact. All perfume houses reformulate, some do it and refuse to say, some use cheaper ingredients so the quality will not be as good but will they have not reformulated which is technically true.

New rules come in about certain ingredients oakmoss was changed to tree moss because of so-called might cause allergies then it was found tree moss could be worse. So they cut the amount of oakmoss allowed in the perfume. Some niche ignored and just put a small notice saying contains oak moss. Way back in 2000 Shalimar came in a new bottle known as the batwing and everyone was saying it was not the same the SA at counters said no. I met Roja Dove at an event he still worked with Guerlain back then. Cornered him and as what was happening? So he told the truth, yes nothing had changed ingredient wise, BUT, Guerlain stopped using the highest quality bergamot and sandalwood then changed Shalimar. Since then they have actually really worked to get it back to how it should be.

Serge Lutens never ever announce they have reformulated but Serge actually quietly admitted they jiggle the juice every 5 years to keep it up to date and fresh with little tweaks. Most who buy any of his go by the colour of the juice. Chergui to take one original release the juice was a dark brown, then changed to a brown with a hint of red colour, then over time has become most reddish in colour. Also, the packaging for his range has changed slightly too.

Chanel also has a little tweak every few years. The no5 I got as a freebie is from 2016 and on the perfume forums, it has been discussed how Chanel want to keep no5 up to date and still appeal to younger women and not seen as old fashioned. So they have a little tweak to keep it modern. Chanel brought out their Excluifs in EDT version then a few years back decided to change them to EDP versions instead. Some translated brilliantly others seemed like totally different perfumes most complaints about 31 Rue Cambon(strangely this was created by Christopher Sheldrake who is the perfumer for Serge Lutens), he joined Chanel to work with their current perfumer. He has since left. But in at interviews when asked if he could make 31 Rue Cambon as a parfum as so many loved it? He said sorry but it would ruin it, then he left Chanel and they changed it to the edp version and it is not the same.
