Forgotten all about this but some time ago I sent an email about joining the Tester Panel for the Beauty Bible and today I got the invitation! Before I part with the requested £30 to cover postage of the products, etc. can others advise if it's really worth it? I fully accept that I'll be expected to 'test' a wide range of products from different beauty brands and then give my reviews but am I likely to be sent a load of rubbish?!

I'm testing at the mo, (this is my 5th time). There are always a range of high and low priced items in each test group and it's fairly easy to check online the rrp of each item. My current bundle totals just over £400. I've always thought they should do blind testing with products in plain pots or tubes because knowing the price of an item can colour one's expectations and also there's a Q for each item about whether you'd repurchase which I can't answer completely honestly if I know it costs £140 (a night cream which was v nice). If I'd had no idea of it's price I would have answered yes but knowing the rrp meant I'd probably never repurchase it.
We used to compare notes about the products we were testing but there's now a clause in the agreement requiring testers not to discuss their tests on a public forum until the results are published. Ultimately they could require the products returned or bill you for their cost if you were thrown off the test.
One valuable thing I've learnt is that there are many excellent products in the lower price bracket..I'm impressed with a cheap and cheerful night cream I'm testing.
I think its well worth doing if you're a beauty junkie and if you rarely react to new products.

£400!! GREAT! Good luck with what you get Busy
Like you say Jude, good if your skin is robust enough to tollerate different products on it. I have to say initially I thought the £20 they quoted in their blog for p&p was rather a lot considering you're the one putting the time & effort in but if they give you that much stuff, you may as well go for it!

I know what you mean about the cheaper brands!! I bought 400ml of St. Ives renewing body cream with collagen elastin. No parabens in it, it does contain mineral oil :mysmilie_466: but it's very lightly pleasantly scented, moisturises very well and I use it as a hand cream daily too. It was only £2.25 in a family bargain shop & I'm really impressed! Palmers cocoa butter cream is good too. Once I've used up any leftovers from Gatineau & Elemis body cream bottles I'm more than happy to replace them with creams that are a fraction of the price.

Thanks for the replies. Still not sure whether to go for it, mainly because I prefer my skin care products to be fragrance free and I'm concerned I actually won't be able to test items fairly should the majority have a strong aroma. Perhaps I'll email them first to express my concerns and take it from there.

Good to know that testers are sent a wide range of brands so big thanks for that info Jude....xx
