Alison Young Shut Your Stupid Gob

I watched a presentation by AY recently and she spoke about the potency of a product giving no information about what it actually did and said it was "full of goodness". Full of goodness? How vague is that? It's like something you would say to a small child when you are trying to get them to eat their dinner. As our resident beauty expert I would expect her to say something rather more specific about what a product does and the ingredients that make it effective. If she cannot give the relevant information about the products then I'd prefer to have someone like Julian presenting as at least he is easier on the ear!

I always thought the Ideal World counterpart (brunette pretty girl 40 going on 20) was an AY wannabee.... but over the years I think she talks a lot less Bols than AY does. AY now reminds me of the blonde wrinkly woman on the panel of dragons den. I think she has a touch of the footballers wife syndrome

Her name is Mandy Penalver. She looks amazing for her age. I couldn't believe it when the presenter said she was 40 odd. I agree, she seems very knowledgable and I would trust her over AY any day.

Ditto, Mandy looks amazing for her age, I presumed she was a lot younger. She definitely seems more knowledgeable than Alison.:sun:

She drives me nuts, I remember when she started on IW some years ago and she couldn't look at the camera. For about two years all you saw was the side or back of her head. Grrrrrr.

Mandy's great - she's very unassuming and un-pretentious, very rarely namedrops and seems knowledgeable about the products - she puts her own good skin down to using natural skincare and cosmetics - she uses Rosehip Oil every day and seems to be of the opinion that good skincare starts with what we put into our bodies as much as anything else, whereas Ms Young (as much as I do find her endearing in many ways) seems to exist in a whirl of coffee and sugar induced hyperactivity and just balances it out by whapping loads of Gatineau/Decleor/Elemis/whateverelseisflavourofthemonth on her mush. I'd much rather have Mandy's attitude :)

I have said it before - I think QVC needs to overhaul its beauty department as it seems to have no morals or ethical code. There must be some great skincare companies out there that are known - instead of obscure American type companies that do skincare. I don't think their offer is that good really. Also, sadly Alison is one of the worst dressed women on tv imho. Sorry Alison, but you do need help. I also don't believe her anymore and I used to think she was great - but now she will promote anything as long as it sells.

I believe she has thyroid problems. It seems that it's taking a while to get the treatment right for her.

She's wearing a horrible blouse/shirt/belt combo tonight. And her under eyes are shocking. Doesn't she use some of the miracle products that she promotes?

I think the top she had on did her no favours whatsoever and her hair which looked great when she first had it restyled now looks in need of a cut. I wasn't actually making a dig at her weight, you don't need to be a size ten to look good.

The dress AY was wearing for the Ojon TSV launch was very flattering, she looked really good in that. It's all about picking things that suit you but the presenters don't always get it right.

Right that's soemthing nice said today so I can go back to normal moan mode for the rest of the day!
