Tanzanite Flasher!
Hello
I am sad enough to have been mulling this over all night. last night Adrienna had the unpleasant task of telling us to keep the chat gem related and it caused a very negative response. i for one am deeply disappointed. Let me start by saying that adrienna too was upset at what happened - I spoke to her in live help - and I don't hold her responsible for merely doing her job, and I merely want to air my thoughts if this is acceptable to everyone.
Adrienna said that there were no names mentioned when the complaint(s) about chat not being used for what it was intended were made but given that some unsuspecting people, unaware of us being told off, then arrived and began to discuss the health of a rabbit without being told off, I can only assume that it was my inane nonsense and the contributions of my friends which caused the complaint(s).
Firstly, I assume I am not the only person who goes into Chat looking forward to chatting but then finds herself buying lots of jewellery at the same time. I can assure you that if chat was all about bracelet lengths, clarity and cut of gemstones etc I would never bother to log in in the first place and therefore wouldn't be buying. I know a lot of people arrive in chat for - funnily enough - a chat with friends and then say "Ooops, I'm buying again". if chat wasn't there those people would not be there either.
I am aware that there is a chit-chat section but there are several problems with that area, the biggest one being that NOBODY USES IT. Therefore it would be a waste of time logging in to sit alone in the chit-chat section. Everyone uses the main area to chat AND to discuss the jewellery. If we all used chit-chat (as happened when the area was first set up) there would be little buying going on since the presenter does not interact with the chit-chat area and there is little to inspire one to buy when in there. On the rare occasions when I visit the chit-chat area I do not buy a thing.
I hope that I am not speaking out of turn here but people have said that being on the site and having the chat has got them through many difficult times - in one case even the loss of a spouse. Again, I doubt that discussing whether a necklace is 16 or 18 inches was what pulled people through depression, grief and long term illness.
I know that I talk a lot, and a lot of what I say is sheer rubbish, but given that I am always warmly welcomed in chat and the presenters often join in with my banter (Barry joining us in discussing my mouse infestation springs immediately to mind, plus the fact that everyone hears "State of Mayonnaise" in Jamie's mattom clip now) I did not think it was in any way interefering with the sales on the site. I buy an awful lot whilst rambling on - I know for a fact that three people logged out last night in repsonse to us being told off, all of them big spenders.
If chat is to be restricted to harrassing the presenters reminding them of requests and asking if the earrings are posts or hooks, I see no point in visiting any more. I'm sure those of you who made the complaint will not miss me at all. I have always thought that the balance between utter nonsense and jewellery chat was a good one - am I now being told that this is unacceptable?
I am sorry to go on. I am not trying to start an argument; I am merely very, very hurt.
