Sorry to say he wasn't minin and it still hurts all these years later. At least there is man in my life now who thinks I'm beautiful. Still prefer cats to people though!

I'm sure it does hurt. My darling dad has always made me feel cherished and loved. And has always told me I was pretty ... even in my ugly duckling years.

In return I have made sure my son knows he's beautiful. All children are beautiful.

I am so pleased you have found a man who knows you're beautiful. I've obviously never met him but I like him already.

That's a lovely thought Tinkerbelle- your son is very lucky to have a loving nurturing parent like you. I sound like I've gone all soppy now but being criticised for your appearance when young can be very damaging to confidence sometimes for life. Even if it's only teasing it still hurts and if it's not teasing then that's just cruel.

My parents didn't tease me but I was mercilessly teased at school. I had really thick bushy uncontrollable hair, which I still have but now I have it under contol and I love it (it's the one thing I'm complimented on!) but I also had really thick dark eyebrows which I hated but now ironically wish I still had. As it was the 70's and thin eyebrows were 'in' so I plucked my eyebrows to practically nothing and now they still won't grow very well and of course thick eyebrows are now deemed attractive, fashions are so fickle!
