Hi Glitzy I have an apatite pendant from Gems which is set in 18ct gold. It looks just like the very very top quality paraiba tourmaline (which is probably why it was sold as 'Paraiba Apatite' lol). I think that Gems only set their very top quality (ie saturated colour or very large stones)...

I think it's all about how you wear something. Nothing's ugly if you wear it properly. I have one pair of Birkis - dark brown Madrids. They're just right for sightseeing in hot weather and look OK worn with three-quarter length linen/neutral trousers. I wouldn't generally wear them in town...

That price just reflects the general trend in QVC gold prices which are ridiculously high now. It'll be interesting to see if it's still a best seller at that silly money! I do love my Claudia ring (especially as I only paid £75 for it.......)

I have one that's been through the wash (gentle 40 degrees) - my old faithful Candy in chalk. It's not the same - the nylon is a bit crinkly and the strap has lost its sharpness - but it's OK
