Does anyone know anything about this brand and how it compares to Meaco?
QVC bought the brand earlier this year from my research

QVC do not own Kalorik.

I'm wondering whether to get this one or the 12L one by Meaco with added air purifier which is currently £179.88.

I need to know will I need replacement filters and if so where from and how much are they and how often do they need changing? 🤔

I have got a Meaco ABC 12 litre one and you just clean the filter on this model. I bought one from QVC this time last year, no make on it and just a scrappy bit of paper with instructions on. It seemed very flimsy to me . I didn't even try it, packed it up and sent it back. Ordered a Meaco direct from manufacturers. Very happy with it. Hope this is of some help.

The filters, as others have said just need cleaning every so often. We try and remember to do them about once a month. You just take them off, bang all the collected dust and whatever into the bin and click them back in. A bit like cleaning the lint that collects in a tumble dryer.

Interesting. I googled "Kalorik" and "dehumifier" and the only links were QVC or supercoolwillow's link to QVC on hotukdeals.co.uk. Unless someone can do better than me?

So is it a new venture Kalorik are trying out and QVC has bought all the initial stock or what, so they're looking for its first reviews? I don't like being a guineapig unwittingly, the jury's out and my money is safe.

I looked up Kalorifik and they seem to be a well established Belgian company. However they only have small products like coffee machines , air fryers etc, on their website. I wonder if the dehumidifier and heated airer as made exclusively for QVC and as Mina suggests QVC customers are being used as Guinea pigs for the brand.

I have the Ebac powerdri 18 with a 3.5l water container, it does have a drainage kit.

I had my original Ebac for many years until I had to replace it at the end of last year.

It has several settings but I use the clothes setting and it is very effective.

I hoover the filter once or twice a week and the filter has to be replaced about every 3-4 months, I got a great deal when I purchased my new machine so I have stocked up.

Well excuse my ignorance…..but why do I need a dehumidifier? Is it for damp houses? I’m in a Victorian terrace and we do get condensation..would it help?

I have a heated airer I use upstairs but have to open the bedroom window or I get condensation. Would a dehumidifier be better?

Yes, yes and yes.

I sent back that heated drier as it was rubbish, including very flimsy. Not keen on buying more of that brand. Also, having to sit through a presentation by Anne Dorrington is something beyond my capabilities. I shall look elsewhere.

I wonder the same Claire. It's not many years ago when we were buying humidifiers to put on radiators to keep the centrally heated air from being too dry and drying out our skin and hair. I still don't think I want the air to be dried out any more. I have my bedroom windows open all year and open the kitchen door if I'm boiling much. I think it must be that I have so many gaps in the walls and windows that I don't seem to get condensation any other time.

I got the Lakeland version. It’s a good one

That is a very good point.

I was fed up with the condensation I was getting on the upstairs windows at the hint of cold weather. I bought the Meaco Arete 2 20L and have been really pleased at how well it works. We're still getting small amounts on the windows after a colder night but I'm shocked at the amount of water this machine pulls from the air every day.

I probably don't help as I can't make myself leave the windows closed in the morning. I've always opened them to air the house out but I suppose getting "fresh" air in isn't the same as dehumidifying.

For those who asked, the Meaco has a 5 year warranty but I think you still have to register it on the site. There are two types of filters. If you want to use it as an air purifyer you need the white one (ours came with one in a plastic bag in the box with it). Spares are easy to get direct from them.

The black filter needs vacuuming once a fortnight according to the instructions. They're available online at Meaco to download so you know what to expect. The app is straightforward to use so for someone like me who finds it difficult to get up/down stairs, you can control the amount of humidity and the functions from your phone.

As I said, I'm really pleased with it. I didn't think we produced a lot of moisture and we don't have mould anywhere (it's a fairly new build with good insulation), but the proof is in the pudding. I've also noticed it's easier to breathe when I go to bed. I get asthma that always hits as soon as I lie down but attacks are definitely fewer.

We also have an EcoAir desiccant type dehumidifier that's meant to run in colder temperatures so I run that in the unheated conservatory. That also works really well and has a great laundry drying function. It doesn't catch as much water as the Meaco, which was the one reason I didn't think we needed one or it would be as good as it is.

Still can't get over how much water it catches compared to my little EcoAir. Very impressed.

I was watching the Shop Smart Save Money program on Channel 5 a few months back and they were trialling dehumidifiers.

They put the Meaco at the top and best rated.

Not sure if that helps anyone but it might be useful info 😊
