don’t know much about pressure treatment

Pressure treatment in Amber, combined with heat, turns an Amber that is quite cloudy into a clearer stone.

However, the treatment also darkens the stone - which gives it the 'Cognac' colour that they describe. Before heat and pressure treatment, the Amber likely started out as a more yellow or golden colour, rather than the deep Orange / Brownish-Orange we see on screen.

I think it's an acceptable treatment for jewellery stones - but if I was a collector, I'd want it in its untreated form.

Thank you. Doesn’t sound too bad. At least it sounds permanent.

I rarely watch gems now but have looked in from time to time this birthday. It's a dismal display with nothing exciting or different to the norm! It makes me think that they could be running it into the ground to gain as much revenue as they can before they go under. It just feels very iffy, why on the birthday would they have D.T. Talking for most of each and every hour if they had decent stock to sell. A full hour of jewellery seems to be a thing of the past!. Obviously this is just my opinion does anyone else feel that something is off or is it just me? I wouldn't be surprised if it was just me!!

They won't do that though, because that would mean that they'd have to sell them at 'treated stone' prices.

At the moment, they're selling treated stones for the prices you could get untreated stones elsewhere.
I know and that is a dubious sales method to me. Dishonest even.

There used to be an independent jeweller near to where I lived that specialised in Amber. The majority of his designs incorporated beautiful pale honey coloured amber. Some of his other designs were made with translucent/cloudy yellow amber which was more of a pale banana colour. He had a couple of large pieces of amber on display in a locked case, that had insects in that were a darker colour.

I hope you're sitting down. DT and Jess are on as I speak. (Well, write). You would NEVER believe it would you?? ;)

Zambian emeralds. All untreated, said he. Oiling obviously isn't a treatment is it? And there's talk of 'the stones they are showing' being "priceless", as suggested by Jess and agreed to by DT.

And, the phone lines have crashed too. (Probably from all the complaints of the dynamic duo's antics). Seems, as I've written that, the phones are back on.

It's not just you. I have the exact same feeling.

On the subject of dubious selling methods, Jess Foley was flogging a triple pair of earrings set earlier - Peach, white and blue. The blue pair were dyed.

She said that the peace and white pair were natural - but changed the subject without mentioning the blue pair. Therefore, it would appear she deliberately ignored the blue pair because she would have had to state that they were dyed.

Deception by omission in my opinion.

To be honest, for the past 18 months or so, I've had the feeling that one day, we'll put Gems TV on and be greeted with a blank screen - similar to how Bid TV ended.

I don't see any signs of them making changes to improve the channel for the long term good. It all comes across as though they're surviving on a day to day basis by misleading and overpricing in order to get as much money as they can, as quickly as they can.

Gems TV, Gem Collector and Jewellery Maker all just come across as desperate at the moment.

I think you're right. It will go out with a bang, rather than a whimper, now you see it, now you don't scenario. The whole thing smacks of utter desperation at the moment and these so-called 'special' birthday shows are just embarrassing.

I notice when two presenters are on together, one will interrupt the other just as some interesting info that would be useful to know could be revealed. Just when you prick your ears up and wait with baited breath, Ellis/Jess etc will say something and change the subject, like the phones are busy or some other crap.

Can't say I've noticed, but now my ears will be peeled. :p

'Interesting info'? On Gemporia?

I think you had your TV on the wrong channel ;)

throw in some CBD, a marijuana scented Kimbie diffuser and a quartzite bong and Bob Marley’s your uncle. Ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️

Did anyone see the very large emerald that they had on a few days back? It had very black lines clearly visible running through the gem. One of them mentioned that it’s a type 2 gem and will have inclusions but these were enormous black and very obvious. I can’t remember the price but I think it may have been £2.500 to £3.500.

I didn't but know what you mean. Sample images attached from their current stock online of their platinum or 18K range. All have black inclusions, which may be smaller in some than others but you can't "unsee" them.

Not an emerald specialist but I think that there's some truth to the claim that an emerald's "jardin" is part of its charm. However, I wouldn't want to spend four figures on these, however competitively priced. I have a comparatively small 2ct Zambian in 18K from The Outlet that has no black in it. You can get large eye clean emeralds with what the GIA classifies as "insignificant" clarity enhancement but for eye-watering costs and certainly not from Gemporia. You can also get GIA-certified "moderate" enhanced 5ct emeralds set into jewellery for around $8,000.

So I'd probably say that these are expensive at £3500.
