Do people really like John Scott

I couldn't stand him on Rocks. I found him quite rude in some of his comments to the backroom staff, supercilious and abrupt. As my mum would have said, "he thinks more of himself than other people think of him!" I always found Rocks a bit of a car crash anyway, with the vogue for the Shrieking Harpies (aka female presenters), but I thought he was by far the worst of the male presenters.

I find him the most unprofessional and one of the worst presenters on TV, Do people really like him. My wife and I switch off when he is on
I confess I haven't watched him for years, but I used to see him when he presented jewellery on Rocks & Co. years back. I couldn't stand him. He tried to come across with this jolly, funny persona that in some ways mimicked the late comedian Larry Grayson (if you are old enough to remember him!), but I thought it was an act, as quite often the 'mask' would drop and he would make what came over as really rude comments to one of the background staff off-camera, or the camera operator. I found him petty, abrupt and rude and disliked the belittling comments. He seemed like a points-scorer to me, often looking to make someone feel silly.

Reminded me in some ways of Andi Peters (and thinking about Andi Peters is something I try not to do unless there's an X and Z in the month..)

He reminds me of Mrs Slocombe in Are You Being Served?
Sometimes I spill my coffee laughing at the comments on here - and I just did when I read yours! You've nailed it exactly. I can just hear it now....'Miss Brahms, have you seen my.......cat?'

I really like John Scott. Never watched him on the jewellery channels, never heard of him until he was on Sewing Quarter. That’s his background, he’s designed and made clothes for the rich and the famous and has he got stories to tell. His book makes great reading. I’m a dressmaker, make bridal clothes for a living, and watched a lot of Sewing Quarter over the years. He’s got a huge fan following.
Sewing Quarter closed and a few months later a new sewing programme, with John Scott, opened as part of tbe Gemporia group and so he’s doing the same thing on there now.
In fact a cruise has been organised with Princess cruises for John for his huge numbers of followers. I think it sails this year but cabins are selling like the proverbial hotcakes.
I met John three years ago when I went to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC, quilting is my hobby, dressmaking is my work. He’s absolutely delightful, a lovely man, very funny, very warm and has legions of fans. Steve who owns Gemporia wouldn’t have organised a cruise with John Scott if he didn’t think the cabins would sell 🙂

been a member for a long while but never got the reply email..anyhow..i can't watch him. he is either over talking people to let us know he made costumes back in 1980 for a film that we have never heard of , wiping his nose/mouth and touching fabrics that some customer will receive, telling us about aspects of his life then moaning when the gallery are talking about something else. when he kept calling Levi Leroy was unbelievable...and telling people if they bought a quilt kit he would put Levi on camera was distasteful. If i had been a messaging member back then i would have recorded it and his disdain for Steve( i think was one of the bosses) was unbelievable.
On a positive note for the channel i flicked over to it today and knew straight away it wasn't John or Vicky... the demonstrator could speak without self important interruption.. its a great channel but let the products speak.

i dislike him because he is more about negatives/drama/snipey, his hayfever, his gluten intolerence, general intolerance..house of alastair would be a vast improvement, you get fun but you get proper education .

Agree, I think he's sarky and can be really rude at times. I remember him on Rocks & Co. when he used to make snidey comments about those off-camera, which said more about him than those he was being bitchy about. Full of himself.
