Lab grown rubies look like the most perfect ruby, almost fake. I have a few that my nan handed down. They were popular in Europe and usually made in Russia. Most jewelry shops sell created corundum and emeralds in Australia. They don’t have any inclusions which gives them away. Still they are technically the real deal but man made.

But both are still fake, both look fake and both cost pennies to make. One of them, however, still costs the consumer a lot of money despite having no worth.

Just a gentle reminder (if it was needed) that diamonds are a commodity, pure and simple, with huge vested interests in maintaining a sense of value.

If you hadn't put this here, I'da mentioned it. When you see it like that, dare I say, it doesn't look that special does it? Very Quartz like. D'ya know where I'm going? Yup. The next Gemporia 'thing' will be if this quartz were diamond...... Or, this diamond looks exactly like the one they just found and that's worth around £36 million, so this is why we've put the price up.....

Crikey. Another "bargain" (image 1) I expect - didn't see the spiel - for another item where similar is available at a website price for less (image 2)...
