Can someone kidnap those godawful toeless shoeboots that Julia is still wearing since before lockdown. She looks dreadful today - a dress too small, tsv jacket that looks worse with sleeves shoved up, and her hair needs a good cut. She doesn't seem to care anymore.
Those shoeboots are horrendous aren't they? 😖 I used to think the same about those god-awful toe post things she used to wear. They probably walked themselves to the bin in the end she wore them that much.

I saw her in an awful Monsoon "hippie" dress this morning on the Style channel. Sorry if anybody likes it but it just reminds me of the dreadful 1970's clothes I avoided like the plague in my early 20's

Monsoon have gone too far imo. The prints and colours are just too in-your- face for everyday wear. Maybe suitable for holidays? Julia probably has multiple pairs of the shoe boots. Doesn't she have foot/ankle problems? Could be that this is the style that helps her out. They look better on her than trainers, though.

I think Monsoon are still stuck in the Hippie era of many moons ago.

She said she had been to the Hairdresser this morning.

Then she should change to one who can cut and style properly and gives honest advice. This long locks nonsense just doesn't suit everyone, particularly older women. Sorry if you're old and still like your long locks because they make you feel younger - but that's the truth. A good haircut can be more flattering than losing a stone in weight.

I don't think Julia is giving up in anyway - in fact, very much the opposite, she still loves herself and dresses more around being a woman much younger - just like having those ageing dyed locks of hair.

She has gained a lot of weight again, especially around that troublesome tummy of hers - it is probably down to her age and a slowing metabolism. Now approaching 70, her body shape has completely changed to when she was in her 50s, and was more volumptious.

It must be hard for her seeing the likes of Alison Young and even more so the 'men's new favourite' Catherine losing all that weight.

Agree with other comments - looser dresses and a good haircut and she would look much better.

I agree. She doesn't have to have it all cut off. Chin length would be a good start. I don't like it when she flicks her hair over her shoulder and closes her eyes. It's a dramatic affection.

I think June (Frank Usher) is a good sort with a great sense of humour, but since we are talking about hair styles on older women, June's hair style is appalling. Whoever cuts it for her and advises her on style should be fired. Definitely ages her as much as Julia's hair ages her, but for different reasons.

I think the colour is Julia's problem. On an ageing skin going darker almost black is a no no, same with older ladies (Gawd I'm 75) who insist on covering their greying hair with a ginger tint. Julia may excuse it with her 'olive" skin, but even lighter hghlights would soften the look, and a good cut.

I think that too many older females in the media feel they have to compete with younger females or they lose out. Which could well be true, in fact because that is probably what happens. But nobody can hide the ageing process so everyone needs to work with it, not against it. Silly coy attention-grabbers like hair-flicking which not many younger presenters do, even, just emphasise the mutton-dressed-as-lamb syndrome. We are what we are, and when push comes to shove, we should celebrate that because we can't hide it.

I saw Julia and Jenny today. Julia wearing a flowered dress which looked good on her. Jenny spoiled it all by draping a black, pleather biker jacket around Julia's shoulders. Oohs! from both of them. Although it's been said you're never too old to wear a biker jacket, in this case it wasn't true. She looked silly. All the charm of the dress went down the plug hole.

Oddly enough, all the younger women from the rough estate next to me must go to the same salon.

They all have that dark/black longer length hair (mostly extensions) and tan themselves orange. They all flick their hair like Julia, too.

The overly-dark hair does nothing for them either.

She has some white trainers on today
