An odd question. I always put a glass shade on my candles. Last night I heard two cracks and there was a big hole in the shade. I was burning a candle with two wicks. I have looked everywhere for a replacement but it would seem that Yankee arent selling them any more. Has anyone else noticed this. I wonder if it gets too hot with the two wicks and thats why they have stopped doing them.

I don’t know about Yankee but you can buy shades from other sites, such as Candle Emporium. Amazon also have some. I am sorry that happened, but glad you posted because I was thinking that as the toppers no longer fit YC jars I might have to get the shades out again. I shan’t bother now! Rosa has said the new ones burn better but that could of course be BS.

I did find a suitable one on Amazon but one of the reviews was from someone who had the same experience with the cracking so I am not sure I want to risk it happening again. I have an old shade but Ive decided not to put it on as the flames are quite high on the two wicks even though I used the wick trimmer before I lit them. I think the heat must be quite intense with the 2 wicks and thats causing the glass to crack. I never had a problem with the single wick ones. It seems to have got worse as the candle goes down, as it was ok for a few nights.

Its such a shame cause I like having a shade on. its as if Yankee have stopped selling them because of the problem with the new style candles.

Maybe it's because a single wick is in the middle and there's a hole in the shade directly above the flame, whereas the double wicks would have the flame directly under the glass. I'd look on ebay as I bet there's someone out there selling them.

I don't like the sound of that Puffin. Be a bit careful with the candles x

I used to love my Yankee and everything else but I've been a bit cagey over the last couple of years with all of it - not least the cost. When things start cracking and breaking with live flames it might be time to reconsider.

I think its the double wick that is the problem. I have stopped putting a shade on them and I am convinced thats why Yankee arent selling them any more because they are moving towards the double wick. As LV 73 said, if its a single wick then the heat goes through the hole directly above it but with the double wick it doesnt. its a shame but theres not alot I can do about it.

I think you are spot on there, There are some on Amazon but I have alot of double wicks now so I dont want the same thing happening.
