I really couldnt help laughing when I saw the name of this show at 1.00am on 15th January. 'What Every Woman Wants' was the name of a rather cheap and nasty chain of shops in central Scotland in the 80's!! As a teenager then I loved it of course - more clothes and plastic jewellery than I could carry and it all came to about £10 (think Primark but worse!)

Now QVC's new show says:

'From firm favourites to fabulous new products, we're bringing you the best from across our ranges to brighten up your world'

but I can't help thinking of cheap tat

Blimey frou-frou, that's taken me back! We had one in Birmingham too. I remember shopping there for my Costa del Sol holiday and couldn't believe how much stuff I got for my £22.50 (or what ever the YTS weekly wage was in the eighties)
I think the Brum version was called "'what everyone wants". Did you have a Jean Jeanie (sp?) too, or was that a Midlands thing?

Happy days!

We had a "What Everyone Wants" in Liverpool too; I think it was a precursor to Primark, but it didn't seem to do as well.

What DOES every woman want? And does it have to be chocolate flavoured/covered?

All over body massages
The looks or brains of MacGuyver in their ideal man
A man who can sing to them (romantic songs)
Scented candles
Hair appointments (most women would probably love to go each week)
Elemis products
Jewels
Shoes
Shopping
Compliments
Throwing of your coat on a puddle
Opening of the car door
Wafted with palm tree when warm
Hand fed with grapes
A purring cat on their lap

Wow they were more widespread than I knew - I wasnt a well travelled teenager! A quick bit of googling says they started in Glasgow. There were also What Everyone Wants in Glasgow but separate What Every Woman Wants.

I dont recall Jean Jeanie, but what a cool name for a jeans shop!!

Ah Hooded Claw the million dollar question - what does every woman want??? Maybe QVC will enlighten us!!! Then again, I'll not hold my breath!!

"Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want ....."

I want all female presenters to wear, and only wear, the lovely clothes that QVC bring to us. If they are good enough for us, they should have the pleasure of them too.

Think this will exclude the men? Oh NO.
I want all men to model the jewellery - yes, that means you too Dale. I want to see necklaces around necks, rings on fingers, bracelets on wrists.

"I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha"

What every woman wants from QVC. Now let me think what they would answer to that question ...

His tat (sorry, I mean "pieces") turn up every now and again on the Bid channels.

Which tells you a lot, methinks...

I often see Thomas Kinkade jigsaw puzzles at car boot sales. The going asking price seems to be a quid, and even then they don't shift!

We had a jean jeanie in our area, late seventies early eighties,it was the place to shop for anything denim, remember snow wash?

We love Thomas Kinkade, I even bought DD a DVD of his life story and we were all teary watching it.

I do remember snow wash but do you remember the jeans that had red piping down the outside leg? They went a treat with my Hazel O'Connor style baggy shirt....

Feeling all nostalgic now, especially when C&A was mentioned in an earlier post (although I did always get a static shock in that shop from all the polyester)
