Have just checked out what's on offer, and I nearly choked ! A 9ct gold bracelet set with garnets (yes garnets !) for over £2,000 !!!!!!! think I'll pass on that - sadly I am still expecting at least 18ct gold and diamonds for that sort of money.

And there are not that many garnets but at least it is on 3 "easy" pays of £673!

Cant remember the name of the new presenter (not Carmel) but she is on now doing gem fest. Is there any blue ring that is NOT something resembling Kate Middleton's engagement ring or something she would wear? This one was lapis for goodness sake!

Can I just say that Dale and Anna don't make the most comfortable team? Which is odd, as Dale is usually Mr. Safe Hands, and gels easily with any other presenter. Anna seems determined to out-clever him. She's gone on about her gap year on the slopes of the very mountain where Tanzanite is mined. She actually mentioned Fibonacci series at one point, which must have baffled most of the viewers. Blimey, it baffled me, and I did two years of maths at uni!

And I'm fed up with her doing that wrinkled-nose smile that goes nowhere near her eyes.

I agree AllThat Glitters. I felt uncomfortable watching them. I think Anna is ok (well there are worse anyway!) but she seemed to be trying too hard. In the end she rather hogged the show and would do well to pipe down. She over-hypes each item as well. I usually quite like 2-handed presentations but this one lacked the laid back style that works best. Felt a bit sorry for Dale.

I don't see how they can justify that price for 9ct gold and their "buying power". The garnets will cost them a few pence each from a vietnamese supplier and I don't suppose the rings are made in Hatton Garden.

I never do like Dale's presenting style - he talks a lot, says nothing and comes over very smug/condescending, verging on the arrogant. Just my personal opinion as I know many of you find him easy to watch and listen to.

For some reason I just haven't yet "taken" to the two new women but I must persevere.

Linda xx

Well, I won't be able to sleep tonight worrying about Dale not being able to sleep because he's trying to figure out infinity! Blows his mind apparently - unlike the rest of us whose minds were being blown by the ludricous prices for pretty mundane jewellery, and the fact that some of it was actually selling! :wonder:

Well if I had two grand to chuck around, it certainly wouldn't be on 9ct gold and garnets thats for sure - (the price of a car for THAT ! ) I am lost for words that the buyers really think the qvc viewer are going to pay that sort of money, and making a big deal of £673 per month is rubbing salt in the wound as it's a month's wages for a lot of people.

I posted a few days ago about replacing a stone in my grandmothers engagement ring. The jeweller (family run business, does repairs on site, a PROPER jeweller... told me he HATES garnets. Says they are just brown and cheap as chips. How the heck are Q getting away with prices like that? And smokey quartz, whilst I like it is still a very cheap stone (or it was). This is cynical selling from Q. They cant profit from jewellry as much as they did in the past, as metals are so expensive so they are actually charging for the gold content with the cheapest stones they can get their hands on to make the most profit. I am disgusted. And that other thread about the price of silver diamonique. A total disgrace. If you want nice jewellry go to an auction, have a lovely day out and buy some lovely vintage quality pieces in solid gold or silver, for around 1/5 th of the retail price. Having sold a violin at a specialist auction I am told that 1/5th is about right.

She always makes me think she is a reject from Samatha of bewitched auditions - and that is one of the nicest thoughts I have about her - always mute when she is on.

It's all personal choice though isn't it? Garnets can be very beautiful stones without a trace of brown visible to the naked eye.

As I have said before I buy jewellery with my heart and not my head. It's about how my I personally love the piece. I do think about the cost but if I love it, I love it.

Not sure I would pay that much for any piece of jewellery right now regardless of how much I loved it. I don't have that kind of money to spend full stop.
