Trump has ordered millions of this malaria tablet which is supposed to help but there is no actual proof.

Some doctors said if you had the BCG injection it is supposed to help you survive? I had mine at school at 11 I think? All I remember is the 6 needle thing kept coming up and down on my arm so they decided to just give it to me anyway.

I don't remember ever having the flu what I always got was a very bad chest infection but as I have asthma they give me the flu jab every year.

I had flu in my twenties. I was so ill I'll never forget it. My friend had it at the same time and said the same. I hadn't been diagnosed with asthma back then but I developed a chest infection a few weeks after and was really ill with that, too. Since then every mild cough/cold I've had has given me a severe chest infection so be very careful with your asthma.

I'd read Trump is encouraging the anti-malarial drug as he has a lot of shares in the main company making it. What a surprise.

I had the BCG. I remember us all being taken one-by-one into the head's office, given the 6-needle and then us all wondering who would have the "big" needle depending on whether we went red at the site or not. That would have been in primary school, though. At about 12/13 all our year was separated into boys and girls. The girls had the extra German Measles jab on top of tetanus then polio drops (urgh - can still remember the taste!). While the girls had the GM jab the boys had the nurses-hand-down-the-trousers-cough-please test. As the GM jab was the last time we queued around the hall I did a runner as I'd had GM as a kid (remembered as I nearly missed being a bridesmaid).

I ended up having the GM antibody test after confessing this to my lovely old GP when I mentioned trying for a baby - which showed I did have antibodies after all. I also had the smallpox vaccine as a kid as we were going to a country that wasn't 100% clear of it. Then there was the pneumovax I had after I had pneumonia. None of these will protect me from COVID-19 nor, unfortunately, from the idiots who live in my street.

Right now my next-door neighbour is sitting outside with two friends that have come up from a city that has quite a few cases (we're rural so I'd been hoping to avoid it as much as possible). This same neighbour (married to a nurse currently away nursing in intensive care) has been telling everyone that if we drink tonic water we won't get it. Presumably due to the link between quinine and antimalarials.

Then there's the idiot opposite who is still wandering up and down the street calling in to see the people who either actually like her (birds of a feather and all that) or don't have the balls to tell her to sling her hook as she's a nasty piece of work known for reporting people she falls out with for not having car tax or any other wrong-doing she can find out about). The last place she's just stopped in the woman living there works in the two council-run old-age care homes locally.

I despair. And clearly have too much time on my hands at the moment!

MML - the tin-hatters are officially known as the mad-hatters in our house :ROFLMAO:

We are not only undergoing C-19 shut-down, but having to endure irresponsible circulation of wild ideas to cure or prevent the virus; bonkers conspiracy theories; or the numpties treating this as an extended bank holiday. I despair about the future of humanity in the face of colossal stupidity...

And don't get me started on the street parties, house parties etc going on.

I read a heart-wrenching story of a wife and mother begging to see her husband with her kids one last time. He's on a ventilator and the medics can do nothing more for him. Ordinary people are facing the most agonising time, and mindless morons are taking the p!ss, without a care in the world. It makes me so cross.

I went out this afternoon to the chemist to pick up a prescription for my mum, as we can't have it delivered as she would just take all her tablets one after another, so we have to put them in a box with a code for the carers to give them to her.

I was aghast at how many cars were on the road. It was nearly like a normal day. It wasn't just one person in each car either, but 2 or more.

The chemist was one in one out. The local shop where my mum goes every day, she has Alzheimer's and doesn't think she will catch anything when we tell her not to go out, also has a one in and one out policy. Lord knows what happens when she arrives as she will just quite happily toddle in ahead of everyone. I can see her ending up on the local news!

The people in my road whom I thought would ignore the stay at home, no social visits, etc., are exactly the ones that I thought would ignore it. Most are obeying, but the ones who are not are really making me very cross. Morons is too good a word for them.

We've changed the way we're shopping by doing an essentials one mid week & a farm shop visit on a Saturday morning. I do the shopping & my Mr T goes for a run! I've also ditched our usual Sainsburys for a nearby Sainsburys Local & the staff said that today was the busiest they'd known since the world tilted on its axis with customers telling them it was the first day of their Easter holiday. I wonder if that was why there were more cars.

I would like to think that was the reason for more cars, but alas I think they are just all stupid, and you can't fix stupid.

I heard her talking, as you say it was heart-wrenching. We have had decades of medical advances & technology that haven't just saved lives but given people back their quality of life, & that for me is what's important. We've never faced anything like covid - 19 before & it's shown us just how fragile we are. This lady's husband had a heart attack four years ago, my dad had his first one when he was 56, & I can remember the cardiologist explaining what the drugs would do, told him to carry on playing golf, that he needed to avoid smoky atmospheres & to be aware of how dangerous flu & chest infections were. He was a sensible man, followed instructions & I believed that his heart would be alright but it wasn't & however healthy he was it was damaged & tired. He died fourteen months after my mum had passed & when I heard Sue Martin saying her husband was 'very, very healthy' I could put myself in her shoes but as it with my lovely dad her husband's damaged heart can't cope. Those who see themselves as invincible are too stupid & uncaring to realise that their selfishness is killing others even if they are unscathed.

I don't understand why fines etc., are not yet being handed out. Are they waiting for this weekend when I suspect the "can't fix stupid" people (love that! So appropriate) will be out?

I've seen a few interviews on the box over the last few days and they really are heartbreaking. One earlier today had a woman whose husband is dying said a nurse at the end of her shift said she'd stay on to let her say goodbye. I don't even want to imagine that. She said she had 10 minutes to say goodbye even though he wasn't aware she was there. She had to be fully kitted out and said how hot and oppressive the kit is and how she couldn't imagine working in it for a 12-hour shift. My OH was sitting with me and we both looked at each other as he knows what that kind of work is like - he was a steel-worker doing 12-hour shifts where the steel was cast. I don't miss him coming home in sweat-soaked clothes absolutely exhausted.

He's a lorry driver now and has seen the roads get really quiet since lockdown but today seemed like a normal day to him. He said as we were watching the heartbroken woman on telly that there'll be a lot more people like that after this weekend as people think they can just go out as normal.

Do these stupid people not see the news? Hear or read about the deaths? The Queen of Stupid (opposite neighbour) was shouting at her son as he was leaving (he doesn't live there, has no need to visit) that it'll all be over next week and we'll be back to normal but in the meantime have a nice time. WTAF? I really need to stop going into my kitchen. She's out there every time I put the kettle on/wash up/make food and she's really winding me up. I have a notice on my door asking people to leave stuff outside as I'm at risk. Every time she sees me in my kitchen she's standing in her front garden talking to people but then loudly says while pointing over at me that I'm a drama queen and it's no worse than normal flu.

Oh, and she was out clapping and hollering earlier! With her brother who lives down the street with his wife who has recently been having chemo. You couldn't make it up. What did Piers say? The people out clapping and displaying the rainbow posters for the NHS are the ones flouting and will ultimately cause the most admissions - spot on!

I get road-rage at the stupids on the road these days but this is in another league. Help me calm down before I pop an artery!

Alter, how awful for you to have that person pointing you out. She'll be the drama queen when she's in trouble with all of this. Stay safe for yourself and your own. Ignore the stupid, deep breaths, keep calm, help where you can and keep your distance safely when you can't.

CC xx

Oh Alter Ego, that all sounds dreadful. I know how hard it is to ignore it, but I hope you can somehow. I keep thinking 'this too will pass' to get me through some days.
I would imagine the people she is talking to probably think she's thick when she comes out with some of the things she's saying.

Please try to ignore her if you can. I know it's hard but she sounds like a right old witch.
Hopefully karma will bite her on the bum.

Alter, I agree with Anna that this woman's obviously thick, she's also a bully & has no right to talk about you in that way. I worked in a wonderful school but we had our fair share of spiteful kids, they all were dealt with but one of the things I'd say to distraught children was to do their best not to waste their lives thinking about their tormentors, easier said than done, I know. If the authorities don't stop her socialising you'll have to ignore it & if you have blinds or curtains at your kitchen window close them, better to live in half light than put up with being pointed at constantly. Last resort make yourself a big rainbow picture for the window, perhaps with little people on it doing all the things she does & put big red crosses over them.

I am a member of the online neighbour thing people posting lost pets or needing work done and asking for good workmen.

So this morning email new post in my area. Went and had a read. A woman ranting at the police for daring to stop her daughter who is 7 months pregnant not once but twice in the same area. Her daughter was upset and the woman phoned the police to complain. The replies she was getting now what she expected. Along the lines of just because her daughter is pregnant should make no difference to her being stopped for out and driving about!

We have a small retail park at the bottom of our road/square and a grassy wooded area at the top, the retail park has an Aldi, Costa, Franky and Bennys, Home and Bargain and a Super bowl, so for us it’s just like a normal day if you could count people queuing outside to get in a shop “normal” There’s only Aldi and Home and Bargain open and it’s still been extremely busy with people panic buying. All my neighbours seem to be sticking to the order not to go out though, all we can hear in our garden are kids playing in the neighbours back garden a few doors away.

Hope all my forum buddy’s are safe and well and can enjoy Easter weekend as best you can, stay safe, love you all ❤❤ xxx

Thank you Shopps & wishing you & yours the same ❤❤ xxx

Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter 🌈🌷🌹🌻🥀🍫💖
The weather is beautiful, spring is springing... If you are able to enjoy your garden, or go out safely, have a lovely few days.
It's difficult to differentiate the days, I know, but if you can treat it as a holiday without making a mockery of the lockdown have fun.

Alter Ego, it's obvious that the current situation brings out the best and the worst in people. Some are not nice in normal circumstances, and they are now worse than before. I pity anyone like that, as the one person you can never escape from is yourself. The more kindness and generosity you show yourself and others, the nicer your world is. Live in your world and be glad you don't live in your neighbour's. And, to stir the pot a little - maybe give her a smile and a wave when she points over at you....It may irk her, it may make whoever she's bitching to take her words as a lie, or if may shame her (unlikely, I know!).

Neighbours, in the lockdown we see their true colours come out. Mine have always been a handful to say the least and we don't get on but they are even worse now. Kids from another marrage visiting most days, the first lockdown weekend going out with all the kids everyday. They haven't a clue what's going off right next door to them because they haven't asked and frankly couln't give a toss about us, me and my family of 5 are currently dealing with a full house of covid, I'm on day 11 and it's a very slow road to recovery. They go outside the house smoking on and off till around 3 am, talking and laughing loudly, keep my daughter a key worker awake sometimes (hence us getting it despite many saftey measures) She goes back to work Monday and we are going to have to say something, everyone including them went out at 8 last night applauding the NHS, my daughter and husband are keyworkers in the NHS and the only ones we know of who work in the NHS nearby but they don't even know that next door. Fed up of them, I really am.
