I moved from a large city to a smaller ,with no wish to sound snobbish, but more upmarket area.I am quite happy in my little bubble ( nothing to do with Coronavirus) but I know a more sordid life is not far away. They say we are no more that 6 feet away from a rat and probably just a bit more from those of the human kind. Having said that I rarely and now at present never go anywhere near my local centre at night.Sorry state of affairs.

One national newspaper is saying the government are thinking of anyone 45 up should be in total lockdown.

I mean seriously! Freck off! 😡 Mental health you really need just to get out even a walk around the neighbourhood.
The media's scare mongering is out of control; the country's on its knees & taking all of those people out of employment would kill it off completely. 89% of those who have died are aged 65+ with most being late 70s & older so this is twaddle & can't happen. Just imagine creepy Chris, his vampire assistant & vested interest Vallance all being kept away from the corridors of power, that they now call their own, they'd be devastated.

We are under further lockdowns from midnight tonight and thankfully I got to see my youngest grand daughter for her birthday which was yesterday. From midnight we are not allowed to visit anybody nor them visit us and we can`t even meet outside in our gardens. Yet Mr V has been driving people to pubs, bars and clubs which have opened earlier so people can drink themselves silly before 10pm. The World has gone mad !
Agree with you all,we are near Sheffield and can see it happening here. On the news thousands protesting in Trafalgar Square, hardly any masks and no social distancing. I barely go anywhere but last week ventured into the supermarket, people getting too close even though it wasn't crowded. Told hubby I won't risk it again.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
The guidelines have now been clarified in this government poster:

They were 18 & recovered, it was part of the first week at uni & didn't affect any of the general public. This year is very, very different & the movement of all those teens was bound to cause this increase in cases, where's the joined up thinking???

There is a 'university' in my Cotswold town. Some live in my street, & have been out drunk & Braying wearing their silly tweeds. I couldn't resist a 'knob cough' as a group passed my garden gate.
Should the uni's lock down & try & contain the Kids at Xmas, there is no way same will comply....

Aw sorry CC, I know they’re a good place to socialise and have a meal, I have been prone to a pub lunch 😊. I was thinking more the rowdy “larger louts” who can’t get enough by 10pm. 🥱
Candy Cane is a lager lout. She's fooling no one with this 'wine' pretence.

The pissheads and the young women getting drunk (and getting caught on CCTV having a dump on a pavement) behave like animals in my closest large town (thankfully not very close).

I had the misfortune of being invited out to my friend's daughter's 21st for a meal and few drinks afterwards several years ago. The meal was in a nice restaurant but walking to the bar and the car park afterwards a few hours later was like another planet. It seems that after dark, sex in doorways and using them as a toilet for both sexes as well as violence and loutish behaviour is the norm. The worst thing we saw passing an alley was a handful of young men queuing to have sex with a young woman who told us to eff off when we shouted if she was okay. I'm just glad there were several of us as the whole thing was intimidating.

My friend's daughter and her friends had a lecture on the way home about not behaving like that but they were as horrified as us oldies. The joys of a sheltered upbringing in the countryside I suppose.

Oh My!!!

DUMP!!!!!:LOL::ROFLMAO: Such a funny word!

On another forum, someone started a thread asking about the pneumonia jab they never heard of this before but it was mentioned in the papers. Had anyone ever had it and because of COVID should they be getting it? Two of us answered yes, and we only got it because we had asthma and it was several years ago.

So now the daily red tops are freaking people out about they need the pneumonia jab.

My paternal granny knew a woman who decided to stay in her bedroom when WW2 was declared. She entertained her friends up there, had all of her meals brought to her by her husband or her family - more fool them & never considered that she was in the same amount of danger as anyone else. Her husband lived in the rest of the house & carried on as usual, probably enjoying his freedom. 'Doing a Gertie' became a family saying & I use it quite a lot. The number of people who have died from pneumonia brought on by this virus isn't known & back in April an American pulmonary specialist said its effects were more like high altitude sickness than anything else. The next thing the media will suggest is asking for blood thinning medicine because of the evidence about sticky blood. Like many people I probably know a couple of hundred others & know of many more & in six months I've heard of one person I know getting this, it was right at the start, she became ill on a family holiday in Spain & nobody else was affected. I also know of a person who died, she was a former colleague who was sacked for bullying a student until he attempted to take his life, I won't say anymore about her.

I have had my Flu jab this year, had the pneumonia and shingles ones a couple of years ago, the only reason I get one is because of my age, 73, fortunately I have no other health conditions.I take everything going but know plenty of people who won’t have it, that is their choice. I follow the Covid guidelines too, I know it is mainly my age group and older who have died from Covid but I am not ready to go yet!

My Mum regularly used an old Lancashire phrase of " He/she/you looks a right tuckle ! ".
A tuckle is an unmade bed and harks back to when beds had sheets, blankets and eiderdowns and each layer had to be straightened and tucked in neatly otherwise is looked a "right tuckle".
Mum would shout either me or my kid brother over and she`d tell us we looked a right tuckle cos our socks weren`t pulled up or my brother`s shirt wasn`t tucked in or my cardigan was unbuttoned and hanging off my shoulders etc and if she saw women who had mismatched clothes or who looked scruffy then they looked a tuckle too.
I reckon if Mum was here then DF would be described as a right tuckle too !

I fortunately don’t have any underlying health problems like asthma etc, but I had the pneumonia jab in 2018 because it apparently gives life long protection, but I didn’t have the flu jab that year. I did however have the flu jab last year and had this year’s one yesterday because, on both occasions, I got a text from the doctors’ surgery. I’ve never had flu, in fact I’ve not had a cold for ten years, but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I’m having my flu jab on Tuesday and I have also had the pneumonia and shingles jabs in recent years. My husband has been unwell since the end of Feb/beginning of March Andy b old by three doctors he’s probably had Covid and is still suffering the after affects. He has had all relevant blood tests and a scan to rule out any other problems. So just get on with it.

Ever since I saw a notice about the shingles jab I have had it in my diary forward planning section for when I qualify for it. So what did I get this year.... flipping shingles! I was livid. I have had the pneumonia jab. I am supposed to be getting the flu jab via the district nurses this year so hope that works out...

Have only had the flu jab once, 4 years ago. Gave me a right dose of flu, I actually had to have a bit of time off work and that is something I have never done. Always gone to work no matter how poorly I felt. So not keen on ever getting that jab again.

You were really unlucky then. 😞 My OH did have a bit of a headache after having his, but I just had a bit of a sore arm on both occasions. I had my latest jab yesterday and my arm is back to normal already.

That happened to my dad & my sister. I've never been eligible for one then I got a g p text just before my 60th advising me to have one. Ironically I'd just had a virus that probably was flu, as I'd retired a few weeks earlier I just stayed at home & recovered. The one good thing about it is that I now can feel the cold having spent all my life being warm blooded & super warm blooded since the big M when I was 50.

I had shingles in January & can remember you saying that you'd got it. The first time I had it was in 1985, six weeks after having our older daughter & a few days after moving house, not the best combination, & this year's delight affected me in the same place. I'm quite a tough old bird & on the rare occasions I'm ill I always know in advance because the patch where it occurred always hurts like an early warning system.

That's a lovely positive comment SF. I've always been a glass filled to the brim person but this year's taken away my hope. My recently widowed friend has joined a group of people who are planning to take legal action because their loved ones died when operations or treatment were cancelled & one of our nephew's sons has been urgently referred to CAMHS because of his issues following his mum's death in April. I haven't skated through life without sad times however, for the first time in my life I can understand people going to bed & hoping that they won't wake up in the morning.

I have been sent to get the flu jab for years now because I have asthma since childhood. Never bothers me I have always been up and out the doctor's door like a shot. They always used to say you had to sit down for 10 minutes after getting it I am not doing that.

The pneumonia one was ****** sore I remember my arm was aching for days after it.
