This was in reply to CC's poorly dog post. Ended up in the wrong place!

Poor Darling!

It's so horrid when they are poorly. He needs a good sleep & will be right as rain tomorrow (today!) They always bounce back.

Obie sends his doggy love, & news that he scored a 'double' Fox poo roll at Cirencester Park ('Lady' Bathhurst's gaff), which he followed up with finding a Deer leg in the woods. Result! (says Obie) He continues...'Mom & Dad threw it away (durrrrrrr!) so I did my best fetch, & kept bringing it back to them. I totally aced it! Strangely, Mommy was quite upset. Humans are odd!

Bry is fully recovered, eating normally and exhibiting all his usual filthy habits. In fact he's gone to (our) bed in the huff as he's not getting any crisps. There's only a quarter family bag left and Mr CC has comandeered the lot (is that a word?).

CC

I can imagine him up there, contentedly farting away.......

Does Bry do 'the tail lift' when he does one, or is that just a Obieism (made up word)

Contentedly farting away= Bryan, not Mr CC. Although perhaps........?

My dog ( a black labrador ) has eaten some nasty stuff in her time too. The latest being the guts of a squashed hedgehog. I walk her on open ground and as a gun dog she sniffs out pheasants, ducks , rabbits etc and loves to chase.
She usually returns to a whistle but when she doesn`t return straight away it normally means she`s found something nasty to eat or to roll in.
As for her farting, well she`s an expert at it and regularly scares herself when she lets a loud and long one go whilst sitting on the laminate floor which makes it vibrate and sound even louder. She`ll jump up in shock, look at the floor as if it`s bitten her bum and act warily before sitting down in the same spot again.

At least you have someone to blame and save face!

GUESS WHAT. He was like a different person. In fact at first, because of the mask, I thought it was a different person. Anyhoo, he and the plastics guy with him thought the healing was excellent, I can go fully weight bearing, two more weeks in the boot and try to wean off it gradually in that time! Next appointment in SIX weeks. So that was good. And I had taken Rescue Remedy beforehand to face him!

Now all I need to find is a pair of shoes I can shove this swollen foot into. So far I have some hiking boots.... I have sent off for some lace up ankle boots from Clarks though just in case in the wide fitting. Fingers crossed.

I broke my little toe a couple of years ago and that was my biggest problem, for months I couldn’t wear closed in shoes which was ok in summer but once autumn and winter came I was in agony and had to buy 2 sizes up and fit the normal one with several insoles.

Anyway glad things are improving for you - it will take time and at least you know that BC has a human side which if nothing else will reduce your stress level when having to deal with him.

Not exactly the most attractive footwear but light and comfortable are Crocs. When Mr V had his foot surgery and had to wear dressings on both feet and couldn`t bear anything pressing on them the Crocs clogs were a life saver. They`re wide fitting too.

I'm so pleased that you're on the mend, defo no thanks to BC. In fact he probably knows that his reputation has been shredded & that people across the land, who he doesn't know, widely despise him. I shall still keep my little voodoo doll of BC & continue to turn the pins that are stuck in several tender places. Insert evil laugh 👿

As a fellow gun dog owner, I feel your pain.....damn the 'prey drive'
Obie is pretty well trained & certainly not feral, but he just 'forgets' when there's a pheasant about (his favourite).
Your dog sounds lovely, btw.

Or maybe Birkenstocks? When are Q getting them back in stock?

I expect he was on his best behaviour because he had another doctor with him
This did occur to me, I must admit.

I bought a pair of Birkenstocks once. Holy cow, they crippled me. I never got past that few days when they meld themselves into your foot shape, or whatever garbage they say to account for this period of torture.

Back to the thrilling subject of my ankle (😂😂) and last night I tried on a sneaker with no Tubigrip on and managed to get my foot in. So all may not be lost!

A few years ago I twisted my ankle on the first night of our holiday, no booze was involved just a badly fitted paving slab. Obviously it was a minor inconvenience compared with all that you've had to deal with but I had to wear a support from the beginning of August to Halloween. I had a pair of boots that I thought would accommodate this & had a dummy run, putting them on was easy, removal was another thing, I ended up sitting on the floor & then couldn't get up. I had the brilliant idea to bum shuffle out of the bedroom, along the landing to the bannisters & pull myself up, what I didn't expect was that the material of my palazzo pants would get stuck under the door strip getting pulled so tightly that I was trapped. I had decided to try on these boots one afternoon when I was on my own & had to wait until my Mr T came hometo be released. I've had several pairs of Birkenstocks & loved them, they were virtually indestructible & I can't think why I put them all into the clothes bank, I also liked Nicky their brand ambassador.

I swear by my Birkenstocks. I don't enjoy the closed in styles, sadly, so normally have to save them for indoors in winter... Except for when I was on tamoxifex, and then my hot flushes meant I was wearing my Birks in the snow!
As a long time Birk. wearer (before they were trendy & ££££) & as someone with long feet, I firmly believe that if they hurt you, you are in the wrong size. Often you need bigger than you think. Remember they come in 2 width fittings?

What does tamoxiflex do, please may?
