I've been out for the day with my sister, we went to a garden centre we'd never visited before (only lived here since 1965) & it was an oasis of calm. Wonderful plants, well organised tea room with delicious food, gift shop, children's garden & three other gardens that a tearoom receipt allowed you to access. Originally it was a landscape centre - paving & design ideas but grew & developed. With the exception of having to leave our contact details & wearing mask in the shop/waiting to be served in tea room we'd never have known that outside everything was still crazy. Oh, the loos were open as well 🌻🍰🥪☕🚽
What a lovely treat!
It sounds very civilised and organised.

I used the loo in Sainbury's nothing changed there.

This is madness! What if you need to wash something off your hands after the loo (sorry, but it's life), or changing your hygiene towels! Hope they left the taps on in those toilets in the baby changing room.

I'm with you - if your hands have some dirt on them your sanitiser won't be as effective. Someone needs to point out the "period" issue of changing tampons etc. to the person in charge (so very obviously a man!).

Thank you, it was a lovely day & exactly as you've described. She's an amazing woman, one of those who makes life better for others & I think the world of her. She was a young widow & her sons are a credit to her. We all miss my brother in law & even now when I go into their home I expect to see him. She did a degree in horticulture so knows her stuff & plant shopping with her is an education even though she makes me spend far too much.

Instead of just looping over the ears, twist the loops so the form an X between the mask and your ears (so what would be the bottom of the loop goes over the top of the ear).

I tried that as well, but the mask still didn’t fit snugly. Having a gap round the side defeats the object of wearing one. I decided that it was a choice of moving my ears or putting on the correct sized loops, so I opted for the latter. 😉

I just had a text saying my outpatient clinic appointment.on Thursday is now a virtual phone appointment. So on the negative side he won't get a good old look at my wound. On the positive side I wont have to see the miserable *******! Also they must know the district nurses are seeing me three times a week so maybe want to allow more time. The nurses havent raised any red flags so I have written out what I want to say about the wound and a couple of questions and I shall see how we go. I can't do any video stuff so if he gets antsy I shall just point out it wasn't my decision to change it.

Being on your own territory will give you the upper hand, not that you should have to feel that way. Ultimately you pay his salary, making you his employer & the arrogant little man can only put his socks on one at a time like the rest of us despite his obvious delusions of grandeur.

You can also buy a strap that goes around the back of your head that the loops attach to. Great for someone like my partner who has a problem with his glasses hurting them before putting loops on them.

Does anyone have a problem with shop staff wearing gloves?

I've stopped buying from the deli counter since they stopped with the film sheets to pick up food and started wearing gloves after catching one young man at a quiet moment with his gloved finger up his nose!

It's the same in hospital. I see staff going from patient to patient with the same gloves on. Great for staff, not so great for patients. Bring back Matron who watched like a hawk and not-so-gently reminded doctors to wash their hands before examining patients.

Chatting to my brother in Canada family member of my SIL is a nurse, and said wearing gloves you do not need to but a mask yes.

What part of Canada are they? I have quite a clan in Ontario.

Disgusting. I read a report that said 20% of all covid cases were caught in hospital. People won't replace gloves as regularly as they should wash their hands & viruses & bacteria will cling to plastic gloves getting transferred to all surfaces & even their faces.

I feel like they should be reminded to wash their gloved hands between patients, and in a shop I would go and challenge the server to change their gloves...and report that disgusting behaviour.

He, SIL and her family are all in St.Catherines 18 miles from Niagara and 80 from Toronto.

I know it well. I had family there until they passed. Now they're scattered from Niagara and Chippawa to Brampton.

I'd love to go back one day. I've had a few fab family holidays there. I love Niagara. The Secret Garden restaurant overlooking the Falls and the UFO diner stick out in my mind and I'd never say no to either a Tim Horton's or Harvey's Hamburger! I was disappointed with Niagara-On-The-Lake last time I visited, though. It was shabby and run down and not the quaint little place I remembered.

Of all the people on the planet, doctors should know well enough to wash their hands between examinations. They really shouldn't need to be reminded. It's disrespectful to the patient to take such a cavalier attitude. If they really are too busy to wash hands each time they touch someone, then new gloves should be a must.

Timmy Hortons' is in Belfast they started opening in the UK last year. People swear they put something in their coffee which makes it addictive

Niagara-On-The-Lake as my brother says they keep it old world for the tourists, this is how people lived back in 1900. I know when I went years back okay that interesting and now move on.

People should read about Ignaz Semmelweis. I'll never forget the first time I taught a lesson about him, the students were open mouthed & that's not healthy either!

Ooh my blood is up!

I had a good visit from the Nurse who decided to try manuka honey dressings and thought there were some positive signs of healing. Then she rang the Tissue Viability Nurse and booked me an appointment with him. So great! But a bit later I got a call from Roehampton Consultant (not the ******* male from Amputationgate) regarding some swabs she took on my last day there (cos no doctor bothered to see me before then) and it turns out I have an infection! No wonder the sodding wound isn't healing quickly. I could have been fighting this off for over a month for all anyone knows. Anyway she rang to tell me she had phoned through a script for a two week course of antibiotics. I couldn't even bother to engage with the bloody woman who was stressing to me how busy she and the lab had been...... well the lab maybe but her I very much doubt!

What an appalling way to treat a patient, I'm not surprised your boil is up, mine would be like a volcano. This needs to be added to your PALS complaint & she's totally unprofessional using being busy as an excuse for lack of care. Hopefully the combo of these dressings & antibiotics will start the healing process really quickly.

As I had a craving for fish and chips, and as it was dry weather, and as Boris would cough up to pay half the cost, I decided to go into town and get one.

The journey by bus usually takes 3/4 hour each way, but 3 buses didn't turn up (1 going, 2 coming back).

So for a 20 minute F & C, it took me 3 1/2 hours.
And to cap it all, when I came out of the café, it was heavy rain and I got soaked.

And there were no Covid precautions, in fact, quite the opposite.

The waitress seemed to know most of her customers, so gave them a hug as they arrived, at least 8 people.

Then she discovered that an elderly couple (who she didn't know) had just got engaged, so she leant over their table to give them a kiss, and also hugs when they left.

When she was bringing my meal, she gave 2 other people hugs while carrying my plate!

And there was only 1 bottle of ketchup, so she was passing this around from one table to another.

I hope I survive!
