Space Saver Bags. How do you manage this one ?

Wondrful to take on holiday & for saving space in your suitcase. So when you arrive unpack all your stuff from the space saver. Of course you need a vaccum cleaner to remove all the air from them & flatten them down. So what happens at the end of your holiday when you repack ?

Now I don't know about you ladies but I'm not in the habit of taking my Dyson on holiday with me

This one has always baffled me. I suppose it works if you're going to stay with family, or renting a villa, but I wonder how many people in hotels would have to nip out and borrow the chambermaid's vacuum?

Yer, I noticed that....
I also thought that almost £9 +P&P was a bit steep for just 3 of those bags. I bought the exact same brand from Costco near me in a box of 12 for £20 quid ish???!!!

What you do is pack the Dyson into one of your space saver bags and then put it in your case to take with you...

and I do not know what I am doing wrong with the ****** things, but some of mine always let the air seep back in over time, so you end up going into the spare room to find the cupboard door open as they have inflated to their usual size.
Is it me?????????????

Probably O.K. if you're a QVC salesper..... oops, sorry, presenter. Most of them can gabble for England without taking a breath, so perhaps they work in reverse as well, and one big inhale and job done....

Those bags are fab - unless you have cats, our kitties love to hear the swoosh of air reinflating the bag after a crafty claw has made one or two pokes into the bag.

Just mentiond by AH in the 12.00 Hr that if you take your things on holiday when you pack to return you ROLL them! ( the filled bags that is) So no need to try & get the Dyson on Easyjet handbaggage---but I agree I spend most of my holidays trying to get the creases out of clothes!

I thought it was just me star234. I have had loads of different brands/types. I always follow the instructions but they never keep "deflated" for any length of time. Don't buy them any more.

The lady on the 3.00 space bag/storage hour couldn't get the vacuum to suck the air out of one bag (one with green items in it) in the last 5 minutes or so of the show. She said she didn't know what she had done to it but carried on with another one that did work.

Who wants to roll their space bag filled clothes to get it flat so that it will fit into luggage? Wouldn't it be simpler and less stressful just to pack?

I always find I have plenty of room in the case its just the weight of it that is the problem - if you added the extra weight of the bags it would be worse and you would be able to get even more in - even more excess baggage!

I too have tried them and the air always goes back in. They are great (initially) for duvets and pillows but for anything else which doesnt have air in is a waste of time. Just how many duvets and pillows do you store?

Another incompetent space bag user here too!

I have a question - how do they actually, literally (couldn't resist, sorry!) put all those 10 duvets, 6 pillows, half a dozen ski jackets and the ubiquitous ginormous teddy bear in 1 bag and take the air out and then get them so nice and flat ??? I always have a major fight stuffing things in and then end up with more of an oblong shaped package.

I did buy some on coathangers from B&M Bargains last winter - sound odd but they were excellent and have to be seen. My padded winter coats went in them and never expanded, plus they were easy to fill and look neat hanging in the wardrobe - neater even than on a grip-to-me!!! Went back to get more cos I was impressed but all gone and not seen any since. Keeping a lookout though.....They were 2 sets for £5 but I got at least 3 big jackets in each.

I always put my dirty undies in the plastic laundry bags from the hotel before packing so they wouldnt spill out on the way home. Also put a bright luggage strap around my case which would hold it together and also makes it easy to spot on the carousel!

Another incompetent space bag user here too!

When I first bought some I thought I fell into that category too.

I bought a set of 4 and two re-inflated several times so I gave up with those. I picked up a single one from a local DIY store and, after stuffing it with bedding and deflating it, I left it on the spare bed to see what happened. It actually stayed flat and has stayed that way!

I'd ordered this set of from QVC http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.830968.cm_scid.ItemNumberSearch and they arrived the day after the successful 'deflation.' The first bag I took out of the box worked like a dream and I now have a king sized 13.5 tog duvet and 4 pillows safely stored in it, while the other one contains a 13.5 tog double duvet and 4 pillows. And the combined height of the stacked bags is about 6 inches (or whatever that is in new money :wink2

I guess with the bags that didn't work either had valves that let the air out or I didn't run the zip along enough times (as it does suggest you do it more than once) but whatever the reason, I've now got rid of a large pile of bedding that was filling up my cupboard AND i've got enough spare bags to put half the house in. Oh ........ and the 2 faulty bags to put down as dust sheets when I paint. Result!! :mysmilie_378:

Well, we have all seen the twisting and scrunching up of uncreasable fashion. Gib the storage bags, pack these clothes and be encouraged to pack light. At the same time think of all the lovely holiday food you can gorge on and sweat off in these clothes during your hols and come back slimmer :grin::sweat::grin::sweat:

What worries me about using them for travelling is that airport security might open one of them, all the clothes would "inflate" and then they couldn't re-close the case :mysmilie_486:
