why?

i thought it was a valid observation. if his current line of work doesn't enable him to buy things he would like/live in a way he wants, perhaps a career change may be an option.

in this instance, i don't think Ian was in the market to actually buy this, but paying way over the odds just because you can spread the cost, isn't a good idea.
